03.16.17 | That sucks, testing and the whole college-prepping experience is just awful. Out of anxiety from everything else around me and general apathy, I didn't even bother studying and it showed. I didn't do badly but I didn't do well by any sense either (I don't know anyone who disagrees with you on the Science part btw. Even my best friend who got a 35 and is probably going to Columbia took an L there). It's not really fair for me to assume I know what your situation is, but I'd recommend just sticking to what you enjoy and maybe having one or two teachers you're on good terms with for recommendations. It's just something you don't think you'll get through until you do. |

03.16.17 | "I stabbed my thigh with my pencil and left a small hole" not the last time you'll do that guaranteed. stuck the led in my hand just a month ago and the mark's still there haha
and then there's the old MCAT. Bit a pencil in half prepping for that one. |

03.16.17 | shit sucks
got a 26 that I'm very not proud of |
unclereich
03.16.17 | Got a 26 my first try only thing i thought was tough was the timing took it two more times got it all the up to 31 so i advise studying and pacing yourself |
elliootsmeuth
03.16.17 | Yeah, definitely need to study more and I will after seeing how badly that went. But not for a few days. Don't even want to think about that shit. Glad there are people who relate. |

03.16.17 | ACT is for ppl who can't handle the SAT |
unclereich
03.16.17 | Definitely and remember thats not all colleges look at. I had straight a's and a solid act score and my buddy who had worse grades and score got into my dream school because of his extracurriculars. |

03.16.17 | science portion tends to throw you for a loop the first time you come across it. definitely something you'll wanna take more than once |
AlexKzillion
03.16.17 | Is the ACT required? I was/am planning on not taking that at all. |
GhostOfSarcasticBtrd
03.16.17 | "Sat if for people who never took chem in high school at least in all of the usa anyway"
Everyone in my high school was mandated to take Chem sophomore year and like nobody took the ACT. |
NordicMindset
03.16.17 | 60% of my school takes the ACT. I thought SAT was the standard until then. |
elliootsmeuth
03.16.17 | We're taking both. If the PSAT is anything like the SAT, the ACT is definitely harder than the SAT by a long shot, so I don't know what ya'll are talking about. |
StallionMang
03.16.17 | a good portion of kids here never end up taking the sat but the act is practically mandatory (ohio) |
elliootsmeuth
03.16.17 | It all depends on where you live. Some schools only do ACT, some do SAT, some do both. |
nol
03.16.17 | for me everything was a breeze except math cuz you can't just like infer the answer so math fucked me |
elliootsmeuth
03.16.17 | You can infer on certain problems, usually ones with diagrams. |
TheSpaceMan
03.16.17 | There's no inferring necessary with math, which is why it's the easiest subject by far imo |
Spacesh1p
03.16.17 | ACT isn't necessarily easier but the questions are more straightforward with less time. I did much better on it than the SAT personally. Just treat the science section as another reading section - understanding the big picture and finding useful info from a lot of text as fast as possible, but in a different context. |
rufinthefury
03.16.17 | SAT is for east coast losers.
...I took both |
Friday13th
03.16.17 | Yeah it's tough but if you're on the high end it can save you from student loans. I spent a whole summer studying for it and got full tuition scholarship for college. I repeated the same trick for the LSAT. I have no work experience lol...but at least I'm not in a hole. |

03.16.17 | wouldn't it be great if career choice was as easy as it was in some roman periods? you had to have the same occupation as your father |
theBoneyKing
03.16.17 | In all seriousness though sorry this whole process sucks for you ellioot dude. I was lucky that I do well at these sort of tests but I understand that many people do not. It's really not the most ideal way to test someone's skills and it ends up rewarding only one very specific type of skillset that not everyone excels at. Nonetheless, good luck with the college application process and remember that these tests are not everything. :-D |
Brewtality91
03.16.17 | Most colleges will only care about the ACT, at least from what I noticed in Ohio. My little brother just got into college and he only took the ACT. I think he got a 29 and I got a 28 (8 years ago).
Now I'm an electrical engineer and life is fantastic. Just keep the end goal in mind and do everything you possibly can to reach it. |

03.16.17 | dude stabbing holes in your leg is not a healthy way to displace your anger. Have you tried burning ants with a magnifying glass or plucking wings of butterflies? |

Didn't matter to me because I scored about equivalently on each, but the ACT was a little better. Got me the second highest scholarship for my college too so no complaints. |

03.17.17 | no idea what i got on the SAT but I got a 31 ACT first time around, no studying. I got a 24 on Math which bombed my overall.
