Short, sweet, seriously just sublime. Every track is so smooth and ethereal, the last 5 tracks standing out especially. Can't believe I just stumbled across this on YouTube. Seriously a banger.
Edit: Fog Lake have wormed their way into the title of my favorite band and this is my favorite album from them. Must be bumped to a 5.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven
it's funny: i used to hate this album. i thought it was pretentious, boring, and went on for way to long. but after repeatedly immersing myself in it, i came to like it, love it. the emotional build and release in this album is nearly unmatched.

This very well could be the best Dillinger album ever. They really do go out with a bang. Incorporating every positive attribute from albums prior and mashing it into one record, along with adding some new elements (Fugue), Dillinger craft an album that is sure to go down in the record books as one of the best metalcore albums of all time and one of the greatest swan songs of the this decade.

Definitely enjoyed this. The original tracks still retain the majority their charm, with the
bonus of fully developed instrumentals and being properly produced. With new life freshly
breathed into these tracks, they take on a new meaning. Although, certain nuances contained
in the original tracks are lost in translation between the reworkings and the originals, but
not everything can be completely retained.

They are extremely Converge-ish, especially the Bannon vocals, but that is far from a detraction from this album. It is a fantastic album. It is slightly more hardcore and sludge, maybe even blackened hardcore, than Converge. It truly is an exceptional album. Can't believe there isn't a review on this yet...

A tragically forgotten early emo gem. Imagine Moss Icon meets Drive Like Jehu. It's spastic

Album cover looks like Cthulhu's asshole. Is equally as crushing as well. Upon first looks,
it's easy to pawn this off as an Ulcerate copy, but there's more to it than that. Focusing
less on an intense atmosphere, and more on an intimate one, if that makes sense. It's unique
in its melody and classic death metal technicality, not that dweedle wank shite that plagues
so many death metal bands today. Uncompromisingly crushing, there is never a dull or boring
moment on this behemoth. Even the more toned down and ambient moments only add further
intrigue. The last few minutes of the record is straight ambient and doesn't feel out of
place whatsoever. Not to mention overall fantastic production.

another stunning metalcore gem forgotten. truly, it fucking slays. absolutely unrelenting and chaotic, while still providing a fair variety of songs and even ambiance and melody throughout. it ventures where other early metalcore acts did not with their ambient experimentation while still providing a consistently interactive and brutal listen. an interesting and varied, but still consistently intense and pummeling listen. will probably bump rating up to a 4.5 after consistent listens. a definite recommendation for fans of Zao, Botch, Coalesce, and other early metalcore acts.

While not the most original thing ever, there are definitely parts where their individuality shines through. The Converge influence is very apparent, but there are other things at work; There's a sludgy and almost post-metal tone to the music that does separate it out from the rest. A consist and overall great record. Definitely for fans of Botch Converge, and others. This is a possible 4 for me, but for now, it'll remain at a high 3.5.

Totally shredz (I meant to hit 's', buttfuck it, I'm keeping the 'z'). The problem with the
OSDM revival is that it's often uninspired and sounds too much like every OSDM band, with no
new ideas. Escarnium adds a layer of dissonance to the music by incorporating a subtle
amount of blackened death metal in the mix. It's brutal, breakneck pace doesn't let up
throughout the whole album. A definite recommendation to any fan of death metal. Tragic that
it flew completely under the radar.

great example of early metalcore. it's heavy, metallic, and chaotic. surprised this isn't
more appreciated. the last track does drag on and drag it down. it doesn't fit with the rest
of the album very well. an interesting edition and experiment though. every track is pretty
straightforward early metalcore.

chaos and unexpectedness is usually welcomed with open arms in extreme music, but this comes off as more of just noise experimentation. while that is all well and good, this just doesn't quite "click". it just isn't very cohesive. both of these bands are extremely talented within their respective genres, but this combination just doesn't seem to work. the hellishness throughout is captivating and disturbing in all the ways that it should be, but kind of goes in one ear and out the other.
