Best mainstream metal/rock acts

These are personally bands that I feel like really earned their status as giants within music and are some of my personal favorites. Of course some are still relatively overrated, but all are at pretty damn solid. List isn't ranked by the way.
1Breaking Benjamin
We Are Not Alone

This is what I mean by somewhat over hyped, especially being from northeast Pennsylvania where they're from. Still, they're an honest band and they have some really damn good choruses.
2Motionless In White
Reincarnate

I probably just really like this band because i'm angsty 19 year old but do I care? I mean their gimmicky but their really just badass as hell, and are a band that really help remind me that I don't have to pick apart music. Sometimes it's fine just to not give a shit what people hate and enjoy it.
3Killswitch Engage
As Daylight Dies

Howard had a crooning and beautiful voice, really sad he got just destroyed by anxiety and couldn't play anymore, although this isn't a horrible thing for fans of Jesse Leach. Probably my favorite big metal/rock band.
4Iron Maiden
Powerslave

They've earned the title of metal giants without a doubt. Are they receiving huge levels of radio play? No, but just about 80 percent of the general population knows this band and like 40 percent listen to them.
5Tool
Ænima

They might be put on a massive pedestal by fans, but Tool really is one of the most forward thinking metal bands out there. They didn't help pioneer any form of experimental alt metal, however they definitely pushed its envelopes while retaining a sense of catchiness and cohesive musicianship.
