DigitalSchism
01.31.17 | For me it was System of a Down that got me listening to music in the first place. Deftones got me interested in finding different kinds of music, and Tool got me interested in the more experimental side of music. I've always thought Tool was a lot of people's gateway band to "different" music. | ScuroFantasma
01.31.17 | Started with Disturbed, then some more nu-metal (Korn, Slipknot, LB etc.), then got into Arise by Sepultura , then some Carcass, then Cannibal Corpse opened up dm for me, then some Ghost, then I got into folk metal pretty hard (Tyr, Eluveitie, Finntroll, etc.) and then it went from there and I started just buying whatever caught my eye or recommendations or stuff that seemed highly rated on Sput. And then maybe 2.5 years ago some of the blackened fm got me into black metal, I actually started with some lesser known stuff first cuz that's all I could get my hands on, bandcamp bm, Icelandic bands, some Marduk and early Norwegian stuff a bit later. Yeah that sorta sums it up. Been getting into hip-hop more and more over the last 6-8 months, still mainly jam bm, but lots of other stuff too. | danielito19

Then Mission of Burma.
Then Sonic Youth.
Then Sleater-Kinney.
Spiraled out of control from there. | Dedes
02.01.17 | Yeah I feel you DigitalSchism, Tool is basically the largest branch of "oddball" music popularity wise so it really opens up a lot of people. Damn did I absolutely play their music to death when I discovered them when I was like 13 or so. | Dedes
02.01.17 | Also even though Deafheaven and Panopticon got me into black metal man did seeing Mayhem live make me love it that much more, i'd say that show was as important as discovering the aforementioned bands. | Sinternet

02.01.17 | Bad Religion is a really good start for anyone looking to get into punk, I first heard songs like Sorrow and American Jesus which made them one of my earlier punk bands. Both songs are still fun as hell. | CalculatingInfinity
02.01.17 | Michael Jackson was my fav at a really young kid, then Avenged Sevenfold what the band that really started it all. Dream Theater made me into a big Metalhead then X Japan changed my music taste forever and I went on from there. | Nazzadan
