There's nothing especially wrong with this sort of behavior but I just don't want to surround myself with it.
Bit of a red herring but I'm also sick of those who wip out a phone and start texting when you're midway through conversation with them and giving one world replies. I hate that, I've threatened to smash many a friends phone because of it. |

I still have it because most of my friends live pretty far away, and I have some pages on there, one for my youtube and another for my band, but I don't use my personal page very often at all anymore. I've seen a marked improvement in my attitude since I stopped checking it all the time a few months back. |

Exactly. I don't just hate people being positive who are genuine, but when it's a flood of just insincere nonsense it can be quite irritating.
And nah, I can't delete it - I do need it for my job and for other reasons, I just need to stop using it as much. I know I'm bitching about people bitching, but ya know.
And yeah, it was really just disappointing to see how stupid my friends have been this election. Not because of who they are voting for, just because of how fucking dumb they are about it and about politics in general. |

First made an account in '08 when I was a freshman in college and it was great at the time, you found out where the parties were at, you had one place everyone could load their pics onto off their digital cameras and share with all their friends and you could see who was single and what not. Nowadays I don't need these perks, and in all honesty it is disturbing how many people become a slave to their social media, where instead of enjoying a meal you have to get the perfect angle shot to prove to people how amazing your food was, or waste a vacation taking selfies instead of enjoying yourself because all of your friends just have to know how much fun you had at the beach. And I know there's plenty of people who can both take pics and enjoy life. I just went on a three week trip to Asia to visit my girlfriend had the time of my life visiting so many different countries and places and I only posted one picture out of hundreds I took because my gf wanted me to. In all honesty, I think it's freeing I went on such a great trip and no one knows about it except my gf and most close friends and family, I don't have anything to prove to acquaintances and strangers on facebook, and I think my life's much better because of it. |

10.17.16 | We both met in college and she's a consultant that's currently assigned on a project in Singapore but she'll be moving back here within the next 3-6 months, and luckily she has enough perks with her firm that my whole trip and our expenses was all covered on her corporate card, so although the long distance has sucked she's been back in the states a few times already and I scored a 3 week trip of a lifetime.
And I don't want to look down my nose too angrily at people who constantly post to social media and enjoy it, if it makes you happy than good for you! I just know plenty of people who according to their facebook appear to be the happiest most adventurous person/couple when in reality they're very lonely and lack any true personal friendships. Like I've said, I find freedom and purpose now with my personal relationships, I love the fact facebook allows me to keep in touch with friends who live states away from me, but I now make an extra effort to spend time with my friends near me, to have an actual phone conversation on someones birthday instead of just posting on their wall, enjoying being in the moment with friends at a show instead recording it all, and I feel like my well being and my relationships with others has vastly improved when I stopped caring about getting likes and fake internet attention via notifications. |
