Best metal/rock vocals

This is a list of some of the most talented or powerful vocalists in rock and metal. Harsh, clean or both vocals can be utilized by the band. They aren't necessarily my favorite bands/albums but they have some incredible voice work. Also, these aren't in any type of order. Some of these vocalists are simply too different to compare.
1Haken
The Mountain

This man has absolutely gorgeous vocals. They range from powerful jazzy spunky lines to soaring graceful highs. Atlas Stone especially (The second track off the album) is absolutely amazing.
2Alter Bridge
Blackbird

A huge step up from Creed, this band revived Mark Tremonti incredibly well. However this isn't about Mark Tremonti. This is about the incredible levels of passionate and variety in the lead singer. In addition some of the lyrics are stunning. "May the wings carry you home, blackbird fly away. May you never be broken again."
3Benighted
Asylum Cave

This might seem like an awkward addition but this is simply brutal. Every line delivered is so raw and punishing, from the gritty yells to gutturals reminiscent almost to Nespithe by Demilich to freakish pig squeals. I don't think harsh vocals ever have been more varied.
4Candlemass
Epicus Doomicus Metallicus

I regret putting of this band for so incredibly long simple because the doom metal tag. The vocals are slow and melancholy but not overboard-they are powerful, operatic, and they just make you want to jam really hard. Probably the best doom metal album I have ever heard.
5Angra
Rebirth

I can say this is probably one of a small number of power metal records that doesn't sound annoying with the squealing highs. They are incredibly uplifting and they bring you to levels of joy that only a band like Angra could accomplish.
6Ne Obliviscaris
Citadel

The harsh vocals are incredibly climactic and they are harmonized and used in conjunction so well with cleans. They play with each other consistently. Also the clean vocals never get annoyingly high but they are pristine and gorgeous when they are at the peak. Favorite example-Devour Me Colossus part 1.
7Death
The Sound of Perseverance

I won't lie in saying that Chuck Scholdiner as a pretty narrow range-he doesn't do cleans, gutturals, yells. Only shrieks. But no one can sound more like an enraged cackling witch better then him. I have yet to hear a death metal band who even sounds similar to his signatures shrieks even,
8Vital Remains
Dechristianize

Perhaps it's the poetic yet incredibly anti-religion way the band writes that interests me. However these lines are delivered with such demonic power. The vocalist doesn't deviate much from mid-range gutturals but he can really belt out some power.
9Nile
Those Whom the Gods Detest

Can you even guttural lower.
10Cryptopsy
None So Vile

Ok maybe you can.
11Opeth
Blackwater Park

Mikael Akerfeldt might be slightly overrated, especially with his slightly disappointing last two albums, but his gutturals are some of the most powerful and slightly eerie in death metal.
12Wilderun
Olden Tales & Deathly Trails

The vocalist has an oddly playful voice, but his cleans honestly set the scenario of old colonial America perfectly. In addition the harsh vocals are incredibly chant-like and catchy.
13Tool
Ænima

Maynard Keenan as an incredibly distinct voice. Its unnerving, dark, soothing, angry. He is really versatile as well especially off of "Pushit", a track that swaps from soaring elated highs to pissed off fearful intensity in the end.
14Killswitch Engage
As Daylight Dies

Although the screams and mid-range growls aren't amazing, Howard has an incredibly passionate clean singing voice that embodies his music of heartbreak amazingly. They are despaired but not depressing, in fact they are incredibly uplifting.
15Immolation
Close to a World Below

This embodies demonic growls maybe even more than Vital Remains. The entire album is incredibly sinister and the vocals especially set this tone.
