Cool aussie stuff

some really cool aussie stuff that is super obscure/never really got past our shores cos of various reasons (mostly the Boomtown curse), roughly ranked from 'everyone should check the hell out of this' to 'yeah these guys are pretty rad', yea
1Elora Danan
In The Room Up There

Fantastic dual vocals, fight club-type lyrics, soft The Receiving End of Sirens-esque post-hardcore
2Mammal
The Majority

Funk hip-hop rock metal tribal whatever else but somehow it works well as fuck, easily one of the best albums on this list and these guys should have been massive-core
3Full Scale Revolution
Full Scale

Aka just Full Scale when they originally formed, same singer as Mammal but a bit more metal back in these days-core
4Ezekiel Ox
Winter In Suburbia

Same singer as the last ones again except this time doing some solo lo-fi funny classic-level acoustic-core
5Jericco
Jericco

Genuinely multicultural, Israeli and Pakistani members with some aussies making exotic metal groovy funk stuff using instruments native from those two countries, dope as fuck-core
6Sleepwalker
Living Dead

Singer from Elora Danan writes some songs about zombies, riffs pretty hard-core
7 Horsell Common
Lost a Lot of Blood

Fantastic stuff caught in the halfway point between their first EP (generic too-heavy post-hardcore stuff) and their full-length album (nice but safe pop rock) this is pretty unique-core
8Trial Kennedy
New Manic Art

Friends with the Horsell Common guys and this album is shamelessly catchy and bright-core
9Twelve Foot Ninja
New Dawn

Way way better than either of their albums-core
10Sydonia
Given To Destroyers

These guys had potential till they made us wait 8 years for a second album which was boring as fuck but this is top-notch metal with beautiful spacey ambient sections and a terrific drum performance-core
11.hinge
The Rise & Fall Of Living Great

Percussion-heavy, weird vocals, slightly tribal but undeniably catchy as hell offbeat pop-core
12Cog
Sharing Space

Yarling like you're in a grunge band but your band members are playing prog and all your lyrics are about the Illuminati but in a self-aware way so its endearing-core
13Rook
Add Colour

Some real vocal talent plus has a feature from the .hinge guy plus Then The Jury Decides is a god-tier jam, soaring as heck alternative rock-core
14Gang of Youths
The Positions

Fuck cancer-core
15 Helm
Vol. 1... Keelhaul

Well-executed concept album, heavy post-metal with great soft bits and fantastic vocals, has like a 12-year old girl doing screams at one point which is m/ as heck-core
16City Calm Down
In A Restless House

Pure National worship but with synths but in a good way-core
17Mere Theory
Catalan Atlas

Haven't ever heard this album but they had a fantastic EP at one point-core
18Cooking With Caustic
From Mercury to Pluto

Dope sample-heavy hip-hop from my hometown-core
19John Butler Trio
Sunrise Over Sea

You probably know this but at the same time stupidly underrated, incredible guitar skills-core
20Pendulum
Immersion

You also probably know this but it rules, Deviant-core
21Closure in Moscow
Pink Lemonade

The Mars Volta playing funk on an acid trip but somehow amazing-core
22Vancouver Sleep Clinic
Winter

Pure and unabashed Bon Iver worship to the point of imitation but it's lovely-core
23Kisschasy
United Paper People

Great pop-rock with top-notch vocals and the lyrics are really funny/heartfelt, plus one of the best albums I've ever seen played front to back live on their last tour-core
24The Getaway Plan
Dark Horses

They started out as a decent post-hardcore act with some big pop-punk singles that I have mad nostalgia for but randomly made this sexy dark rock album with seven-minute jazzy piano songs and it's fucking mint-core
25Alex Lloyd
Watching Angels Mend

Beautiful acoustic stuff with one of the best voices in the business and once an album he drops in a groovy track with some fat bass playing-core
26Heavy Weight Champ
Lo-Fi Funeral

Old nu-metal stuff but with a slow, spacey sensibility and its actually pretty great-core
27Serenik
Better Now

Two pop-rock songs that are absolute fire, catchy and pretty but with undeniable heart and feels, band broke up before they had a chance-core
28Gunface
Freaky Deaky Boogie Woogie

Was supposed to be up top of the list but wasn't in the database but near-classic quality, essential listening for my bros in the bomb squad, lo-fi badly mixed punk/reggae stuff with awful vocals but some of the best lyrics penned by man, plus there are stickers for them all round my university campus so represent-core
29Roscoe James Irwin
The Hunting Road

Cat Empire affiliate makes some of the prettiest sunniest acoustic stuff you'll ever hear, folk and country tinged with incredible falsetto parts-core
30Daniel Champagne
Pint of Mystery

Dude's guitar skills are off the charts with bluesy folky type stuff just jam the Nightingale-core
31The Third Estate
Conquest

Were gonna make four EPs one for each horseman of the apocalypse but broke up after just two, this one mixes rock, post-hardcore, prog, Mexican music breakdowns and space samples but somehow stays groovy-core
