| Thursday>Thrice
Yup. Who's with me? Though I feel like no one else shares this opinon. | | 1 | | Thursday Waiting
This album destroys Identity Crisis, and it is likewise Thursday's worst release. +1 Thursday | | 2 | | Thursday Full Collapse
This album destroys Illusion of Safety (perhaps that's too harsh, but this is clearly the surperior record. Illusion is great, but Full Collapse contains very strong songwriting, fantastic vocal melodies, interesting instrumentation, and where Illusion often changes keys, this album often changes tempos, which is more interesting and impressive. Plus, just to get this out of the way, as vocalists, Geoff>Dustin) +1 Thursday | | 3 | | Thrice The Artist in the Ambulance
Yeah this is better than War All the Time. By how much though? Geoff Rickley's songwriting here is just as strong as it normally is. This is an above average Thrice record. And it's a less interesting listen than War All the Time, where at moments you can hear Thursday start to experiment more +1 Thrice | | 4 | | Thrice Vheissu
This is the best album from either group, so obviously this is the better album out of this and A City by the Light Divided... | | 5 | | Thursday A City By the Light Divided
...which doesn't mean A City by the Light Divided is not freakin awesome. Autumn Leaves Revisited is the best closer from both bands, and possibly the most impressive from either band. Sure, Thursday doesn't go down the experimental route. They skip that. There isn't the keyboard based softer side that you see on Vheissu (Atlantic), and they never reach the heavier side of Vheissu (Earth Will Shake). However, Vheissu's experimentation is the reason Thrice is placed in the stratosphere on this site. But besides that, what about Thrice is there that Thursday didn't do better? +1 Thrice | | 6 | | Thrice The Alchemy Index Vols. I & II
Obviously Thursday didn't do something else like this either. +1 Thrice by default. | | 7 | | Thursday Common Existence
>Beggars. Not that Beggars isn't bad. None of these albums are bad, but again, Geoff is a better songwriter than Dustin. Thursday's maturation feels more natural than Thrice's. +1 Thursday | | 8 | | Thursday No Devolucion
>>>>>>>>Major/Minor. Thursday's final effort is their most creative, cohesive, and mature record yet. Major/Minor just feels like another record from the same Thrice that made Beggars. It's very good, but it doesn't provide the same kind of experience that Thursday's final record did. +1 Thursday | | 9 | | Thrice To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere
Obviously, Thursday isn't reuniting to make new music. Geoff is in another band right now with the ex-Lostprophets members, and seeing everything they've been through since Thursday's disbansion, Rickley should probably stay with them. Now, we did get new Thrice, which is probably a reason why I see more discussion for them (so another point for them by default), but I really never see Thursday mentioned anywhere, which is a shame. Because save Vheissu, the Alchemy Index, and maybe TAITA, Thursday did what Thrice did, but better. I know no one will agree with this, partially because it seems a lot of users have a very personal appreciation of Thrice's work. And Thrice is a fantastic band, don't get me wrong. I do love them. But, please, if you love Thrice and haven't checked these guys out yet, or you enjoy an album or two, explore their discography. All of it is worth your time. Thrice: 4 points (and two were by default) Thursday: 5. 5>4. Thursday>Thrice | |

06.02.16 | Waiting is one of Thursday's best releases. Don't hate. Thursday tends to have albums I love in their entirety and albums I dislike in entirety, whereas Thrice tends to have great songs and not-so-great songs in all of their albums. | onionbubs
06.02.16 | what do you dislike in it's entirety from thursday? | adr
06.02.16 | both bands are overrated af, but Full Collapse is prob a little better than the Thrice albums i've heard even though the vox is gay af | chinesewhispers
06.02.16 | Yeah post-City/Vheissu it's kind of hard to try and compare their careers cuz Thursday had the split and Thrice had the Alchemy Indexes so Idk but tbh I think they're pretty even | Rowan5215
06.02.16 | Thursday wins.
Dustin is the better vocalist but Geoff is the superior lyricist by far and a more passionate performer
Thursday's progression over their career is so much more interesting and their song structures are more original | iloveyouall
06.02.16 | i need validation too.
please give me some! | JohnnyoftheWell
06.02.16 | Claiming Full Collapse>Illusion of Safety is worse than a joke. I'll just about grant you Common Existence though, massively overlooked album. | JohnnyoftheWell
06.02.16 | "Thursday's progression over their career is so much more interesting and their song structures are more original"
The progression from Identity Crisis to Vheissu to Beggars is way more interesting than Thursday | chinesewhispers
06.02.16 | Full Collapse fucks Illusion in its ear-pussy | Sinternet
06.03.16 | thrice>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>thursday all day long | minty901
06.03.16 | @onionbubs I shouldn't say I dislike any Thursday albums necessarily, I just didn't necessarily find myself compelled to get into Full Collapse or Common Existence to the same degree as the other 4. | Danred97
06.03.16 | I feel I should actually listen to Thursday before saying anything, but Thrice are a damn good band regardless. | Sinternet
06.03.16 | what you people smoking? | iloveyouall
06.03.16 | one time, two times, thrice my saviour | omgbecky
06.03.16 | I'm always going to say that Thursday is better than any other band because I play favorites. They've both had both had similar career trajectories, but musically they are so different. Thrice wins for most changed though. | oltnabrick
06.03.16 | thursdays split w/ envy is really good too | Rowan5215
06.03.16 | yea the progression to No Devolucion from their other stuff is hands down more interesting than anything in Thrice's discog | larrytheslug
06.03.16 | No Devolucion is probably the best album, but Thrice's discog > | Rowan5215
06.03.16 | disagreed larry there's about three Thrice albums that just don't do it for me anymore while Thursday pretty much have no weak stuff outside of parts of WATT and City | larrytheslug
06.03.16 | My only qualm with thrice is is major/minor and now new release. I think those are pretty run of the mill. | onionbubs
06.03.16 | i usually judge artists based on albums but
autumn leaves revisited>every single thrice song | StarlessCore
06.03.16 | thursday is def better than thrice agreed | TheHung89
06.03.16 | Thursday>Thrice
Thursday's last 2 albums are really good | DinosaurJones
06.03.16 | I respectfully disagree. | DoctorDoom
06.03.16 | My wife an I have this argument once a month. Thursday all the way. | JohnnyoftheWell
06.03.16 | "autumn leaves revisited>every single thrice song"
Not even top 10 Thursday dude
"and where Illusion often changes keys, this album often changes tempos, which is more interesting and impressive"
Also gotta add, this is empirically incorrect; Illusion is totally full of tempo changes and is far more musically interesting on sheet than Full Collapse | dbizzles
06.03.16 | Never cared enough about Common Existence and No Devolucion to really get into them when they came out, but I know they (especial ND) get a lot of love around here. I should probably check them out. I really like A City by the Light Divided. | GuanoBumbershoot
06.03.16 | Both bands were huge for me as a preteen/teen(as they were for a lot of kids at that time), but I've always tended to prefer Thursday overall. Hard nostalgia for both though. | DoctorDoom
06.03.16 | Common Existence is a great album, way too overlooked. | onionbubs
06.03.16 | dbizzles, common existance was definitely a grower for me. but its worth another listen | Conmaniac
06.03.16 | neither are that good tbh I don't get the hype at all. Thursday has a better sound though IMO. | JigglyPDiddy
06.03.16 | Brand New over both | Conmaniac
06.03.16 | obviously | LotusFlower
06.03.16 | ^^ no | Conmaniac
06.03.16 | ^^^yes | onionbubs
06.03.16 | "Brand New over both"
absolutely. | DinosaurJones
06.03.16 | Ugh | Royl123
06.03.16 | Thrice by miles! They're clearly the more creative band. | Intothepit
06.03.16 | I'd agree with Royl if I was as stupid as he is. | jtswope
06.03.16 | No Devolucion is better than any Thrice album, but Thrice has a better discography overall. | chinesewhispers
06.03.16 | ^I might agree with this | captaincrunch11
06.03.16 | Both are great. Can't really say I have a preference between both, but Thursday made some fantastic tunes during the entirety of their career. |
