Brabiz 06.02.16	Anyone else care about packaging?
CalculatingInfinity 06.02.16	Super detailed boxsets for limited editions are the best :3 I really care about package and appreciate artists that put effort into them, my fav out of the 5 listed are Digipacks.
Brabiz 06.02.16	Wow really? Haha for me they're like vinyl but less interesting and the corners no matter how hard i avoid it end up scuffed up
NLD 06.02.16	only physical music i own is cassettes and cds. always been a big fan of cassettes
CalculatingInfinity 06.02.16	I never fuck up the corners oddly, plus I know Vinyl is gorgeous but I rarely buy Vinyls enough to appreciate them. Seriously limited editions of stuff are the best packaging and I can't get enough.

SCREAM! 06.02.16	I've had really shit luck with jewel cases. Seems like half the ones I order online or buy at shows end up being broken (chipped corner, broken hinge, cd holder missing "teeth", etc)

heck 06.02.16	what kind of digipaks are we talking though? like the kind with the plastic tray is rad, but fuck the ones that are just like cardboard sleeves that the disc slides into and gets scratched to hell every time you take it out

NLD 06.02.16	cassettes are the best because i can get hard to find music on cassette from yard sales and thrift shops for like a quarter. cds are normally just a waste when you can buy the same music digitally anyway
Brabiz 06.02.16	Right, because i didn't grow up with analogue or anything. With digipaks I hate the way they look and how flimsy they feel. Then the digisleeves are the worst things on the planet.

CalculatingInfinity 06.02.16	I think Digipacks/sleeves looks so much nicer and fit the theme of the band in general much more than a Jewel Case, what I buy Physical Copies for.
heck 06.02.16	sure, I get that, but I also like not scratching up my CDs and rendering them unplayable after a certain amount of time
heck 06.02.16	it's not like I'm outright discarding the digisleeves or even taking the booklets out of them, I just put the discs in separate slim cases next to them on the shelf. best of both worlds, now I have the nice package to look at and the disc is nice and secure

heck 06.02.16	pretty much every digisleeve CD I've had has gotten small surface scratches the very first time I remove the disc from the sleeve, no matter how gentle I am. it usually doesn't affect playback but it still bugs the hell out of me, plus I'd just rather not risk doing additional/worse damage in the future

onionbubs 06.02.16	oh wait the jewel cases where that side thingy is clear and you can see like the album cover through that too is cool. but when that side thingy is just a solid color like black, white or brown (which is the WORST) on like older cds, that kinda sucks
heck 06.02.16	I've never really had much of a problem with jewel cases tbh. most of the ones I've ever had that have broken have been due entirely to my own stupidity and clumsiness. anybody ever get any jewel cases from Japan? I've gotten some that are so thick and sturdy I don't think you could break them if you tried

zakalwe 06.02.16	That's the one I had sin. I've mentioned in my sound off that Ladies and Gents was like a work of art when it was released. It was totally fucking mind blowing.

onionbubs 06.02.16	just to update the rating really quickly super jewel box>everything else. but the rating for everything else is the same as i listed before its a shame my only super jewel box is for a paul mccartney album i dont care about that much (i love his work and respect the hell outta him but post wings he's...okay. though his newest was pretty sweet. its not that album though.)
ScuroFantasma 06.02.16	I like digisleeves. As someone who doesn't buy vinyl, they kinds give off a mini-vinyl vibe which is cool. Plus I've never scratched a cd on them. Jewel cases are cool unless you're shipping them, then there's like a 20% chance they'll be damaged (teeth damage really sucks), depends on how much care is put into the package when it's sent. Digipaks I'm not a big fan on, I've had some just sitting on shelves and get damaged on the edges. I'm worried about how they'll hold up but they sure do look nice. Best packaging I've seen is the packaging for the new Hexvessel. It's like some super sturdy digipak. I'm not sure what to call it but that and those 'media book' releases (Eluveitie - Origins and Equilibrium - Erdentempel deluxe editions had them if you need a reference) are the best imo.
