| My Quests for Complete Studio Album Collections
This is a list of studio album collections I am in the process of completing. Most of these collections are in CD form.
I don't know how notable it is to have collected the majority of these albums without importing them, but outside of second hand websites, New Zealand stores do not have much love for this endeavour.
List has the most recent album acquired as the highlight. | | 1 | | Weezer Everything Will Be Alright in the End
4/10. Geek rock and distorted guitars and pop sensibilities and the ability to channel my inner defensive hipster in debates about how "This Is Such a Pity" isn't that bad of a song.
Missing: "Maladroit" to "Hurley," "The White Album." | | 2 | | Barenaked Ladies Everything to Everyone
7/11. Got a soft spot for Steven Page's voice, especially on the ballads. Gonna miss his contributions.
Missing: "Barenaked Ladies Are Me," "Barenaked Ladies Are Men," "Grinning Streak," "Silverball" (not really counting the holiday/children's albums for this collection) | | 3 | | The Stone Roses The Stone Roses
1/2. Yeah yeah, 2 CDs shouldn't really count as a prominent collection, but when everybody loves the first album enough to forget the second, it makes the search more difficult.
Missing: "Second Coming." | | 4 | | Manic Street Preachers Postcards from a Young Man
4/12. Interesting history, interesting blend of venomous lyrics and an ever-shifting level of accessibility, interesting band in general.
Missing: "Everything Must Go" to "Journal to Plague Lovers," "Rewind the Film" to "Futurology." | | 5 | | Pixies Trompe Le Monde
3/5 (3/6 if we're counting Come on Pilgrim). Hearing about their influence on pretty much everything, and liking Debaser and Velouria immediately? No excuse not to. On a side note, almost wrote 3/4 because I briefly forgot that Indie Cindy existed.
Missing: "Come on Pilgrim," "Surfer Rosa," "Indie Cindy." | | 6 | | The Shins Wincing the Night Away
2/4. "New Slang" hasn't gotten old yet, so lets give this a shot. This is the most recent quest that has begun, and once the CDs arrive I will be excited to see where it takes me.
Missing: "Oh, Inverted World," "Port of Morrow." | | 7 | | Blur The Magic Whip
8/8. Just wanted an honourable mention here, given how this is one of my favourite bands and that is entirely HolidayKirk's fault, even if he doesn't know it. On a side note, come back, HolidayKirk.
Missing: Money that could have been spent on necessities. | |

04.24.16 | Definitely count Come on Pilgrim since it rules, you can pass on Indy Cindy though since it's kind of bad.. | torts
04.24.16 | man I could only imagine how hard it'd be to collect music in new zealand, much luck with that endeavor | ArtBox
04.24.16 | Thanks, man. It's the balancing act between popular and niche that most music stores doesn't really have (a case of 10 Definitely Maybe reissues to one Different Class if you're lucky.)
On the plus side, currency conversion makes it look that much more impressive if you find a bargain. | ScuroFantasma
04.24.16 | Sweet man, keep it going. Completing the CD discog of bands you love is great fun, seeing how they progress and stuff. | Zig
04.24.16 | Can imagine how it would be to collect a discog.
Type O Negative is the only band I own every studio album (7/7). |
