11.16.15 | "Their new stuff may sound a bit like shit"
You haven't checked Clockwork Angels |
peartnoy
11.16.15 | I love clockwork angels but the low end on it is so overpowering. It sounds better than the previous two that's for sure |
AlexKzillion
11.16.15 | 9 and 13 hard, most of the djent I've heard has top notch production, and the drums sound HUGE. |

11.16.15 | 3 is way to trebley.
I love the production on the downward spiral. The quality matches the record perfectly. |

11.16.15 | @sniff

@Inflames
Alright
@BlacKapes
Fuck off I've seen a lot of of these bands live and they sounded almost like the album so your fake argument is stupid. |
Trebor.
11.16.15 | I mean in terms of this kind of music it's gotta be misery signals - controller |
BlacKapes
11.16.15 | it's all drum samples and amp simulators bro, they probably do the same live -torts |
ZombicidalMan
11.16.15 | ashes is the best LoG album, both in terms of production and in terms of actual music
and as for trivium having the best guitar tone ever... lol |
Snake.
11.16.15 | 11 Norah Jones
Come Away with Me
Similar to Rage Against The Machine. You can almost feel like the band is playing in the room with you it's pretty incredible.
wat |
peartnoy
11.17.15 | @BlacKapes
Now that's bullshit
@ZombicidalMan
My favorite. There's a big difference.
@SnakeDelilah
I should rephrase that. I meant that, like Rage Against The Machine, the mixing is flawless |
BlacKapes
11.17.15 | how is that bullshit???? are you saying they dont use samples or amp simulators??? |
peartnoy
11.17.15 | Bands like Exotype yeah but stop talking nonsense just because your opinion is different. |
BlacKapes
11.17.15 | dude periphery uses superior drummer samples and axe-fx pedals, its not opinion wtf? they do use drum samples and amp sims |
peartnoy
11.17.15 | Periphery used drum samples on the first album. They made it clear that their last two albums were live drums and without autotune/pitch-correction. And if you think that studio magic in general=bad all the time then we'll just agree to disagree. To me as long as the performance itself sounds legit it doesn't sound fake. And again most of this list recorded with real instruments. I'm recording my first album with real instruments why the hell would freaking Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying or Trivium use samples. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
11.17.15 | yeah norah jones is basically a rage against the machine rip-off agreed |
ZombicidalMan
11.17.15 | well I'm deeply sorry that your favourite guitar tone is something so generic and thin |
user
11.17.15 | few things--
city of evil has some of the worst drum mixing in recent history.
found in faraway places seems to forget that snare drums exist.
an ocean between us is pretty much just mids @ 10 and some treble.
agree about ratm and norah jones though.
interesting picks overall, though. had to relisten to some in the same vein as bloc.

-anything blackapes says
you can just ignore those.
"yeah norah jones is basically a rage against the machine rip-off agreed"
completely missing the point. reads like a futures post.
"[11 Norah Jones Come Away with Me

wat"
he's quite clearly talking about the almost 5.1-esque mixing that is found in both of those albums...not too hard to figure out. |
peartnoy
11.17.15 | Thanks user what a great post. How are City of Evil's drums that bad? I don't hear it honestly. |
user
11.18.15 | that bass drum is ridiculously flat. punchy in the worst possible way. cymbals muddy together and make the ride sound like nothing. |
peartnoy
11.18.15 | That's what I like about the bass drum. I like how not boomy it is. It works with the snare tone. And to me the ride cymbal sounds fine haha. Again it's not about the best productions it's about my favorites. |
