| Rating my vinyl Coop
Was putting away some vinyl when I was in the mood for some early Cooper, so I pulled them all out, this is what I got. What are your Favorites? | 15 | | Alice Cooper Zipper Catches Skin | 14 | | Alice Cooper Lace and Whiskey | 13 | | Alice Cooper Special Forces | 12 | | Alice Cooper Raise Your Fist and Yell
Roses on White Lace is the best late era Cooper song, it comes out of nowhere. | 11 | | Alice Cooper Flush The Fashion | 10 | | Alice Cooper From the Inside
Kind of a comeback in ways, at least that was the promotion. There were some good songs here, but solo Coop just did not have the same bite as the band. | 9 | | Alice Cooper Alice Cooper Goes to Hell | 8 | | Alice Cooper Pretties For You
The Debut, very different sound than what you would be used to, but interesting sound, some of it was the producer, Zappa can get wierd | 7 | | Alice Cooper Welcome to my Nightmare
The first "Solo" album, got away from the hard dirty edge the band had, Coop replaced it with show tunes and top hats, still freakin awesome. | 6 | | Alice Cooper Muscle Of Love
The last of the original lineup, the album is all over the place, kind of like Schools out, still good just not the caliber of the top 4 | 5 | | Alice Cooper School's Out | 4 | | Alice Cooper Easy Action
Surprisingly good, huge step up from the Debut and closer to Love it to Death than you think | 3 | | Alice Cooper Love It To Death
Maybe the darkest Cooper album, which is saying something. | 2 | | Alice Cooper Killer
Almost as good as number 1, it doesn't have a bad song. Side one is nar perfect. | 1 | | Alice Cooper Billion Dollar Babies
I think this one of the best early "70"s rock records, period. In a time when there was a gluten of great music, this one stands out, the perfect hard rock album. | |

10.20.15 | Holden Caulfield would do a Mark Chapman | manosg
10.20.15 | 2 and 3 are definitely my favorites with Halo of Flies and Desperado being two of my favorite tracks of his. Trash is also up there for me as it was one of the first rock albums I truly enjoyed as a kid. | Titan
10.20.15 | wrong demographic whambro | wham49
10.20.15 | Great catch on the Holden Picture.
Don't know why Titan, we talk this kind of stuff all the time, Coop should be in with DP, Zep, and Sabbath, actually a thread I was on yesterday made me think of it, it was the first wave vs. NWOBHM list and mrsirlord was saying no hard rock bands from america in the 70's so I brought him out and he said it wasn't hard rock, however he said Def Leppard was, didn't get that. | manosg
10.20.15 | Lots of great US hard rock bands; The Allman Brothers, The Doors, The Stooges, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Grand Funk Railroad, Blue Oyster Cult, ZZ Top, etc. Even Hendrix had to go to the US to make a name for himself.
Having said that, I'd put all of those under the three Brit giants. | wham49
10.20.15 | I named half of those, pretty sad, nobody knows these great bands, or can't come up with them as american rock bands, but I would say only sabbath above all of them | manosg
10.20.15 | Yeah it's unfortunate. Grand Funk Railroad were one of the tightest rock bands around. One of the best power trios, with proto-metal influence and an incredible rhythm section. But very few guys on here seem to care about them.
In terms of influence, you have to put all three Brits above them. Personally, I'm not too big on Zeppelin but their success is indisputable so what can you say? But coming back to the point, the US groups had this different, street/sleaze vibe that the Brits hadn't. Imagine if Pentagram hadn't screwed up, today we would be talking about the four giants who helped form metal in the '70s. | wham49
10.20.15 | Totally agree, I'm a huge Coop fan though, the whole late 60's Detroit scene actually, Let people listen to Killer and BDB and they may change their mind | manosg
10.20.15 | Definitely. Pretty good scene indeed. MC5, GFR, The Stooges, Frijid Pink (sweet heavy psych), Amboy Dukes, etc. | wham49
10.20.15 | Fridjid Pink is sweet, I have 2 on Vinyl, forgot them.
almost the start of punk, as a music lover, should be required listening, at least for historical purposes to get a better breadth of knowledge about where some great bands got their inspiration, the first wave of punk all took something from that scene, Lemmy gives them huge love for the energy of Motorhead | wham49
03.16.22 | interesting to look back at this, maybe would move a couple around but I could still stand behind it | Egarran
03.16.22 | Bump for justice |
