The Albatross

The content of ‘Weave’ is kind of like an answer to what ‘The Albatross’ was,” bassist Josh Coll says. “It’s talking about ‘The Albatross,’ and it refers to ‘The Albatross directly in a couple of lines. It’s intended to put ‘The Albatross’ to bed, in a way.”

Old Songs

Though that album helped the band build a fanbase, spending the next two years on the road re-creating the often-turbulent emotions that underpinned the first album proved exhausting for the musicians, who felt in retrospect that their debut “doesn’t represent what the five of us enjoy as music, but it represents what we thought the five of us would be good at,” Coll says.

Split

When it came time to make their next album, they were ready to move on. “It’s just not fun to go down the same path you’ve already gone down,” Coll says. “We were trying to not be aware of what people expect out of you, and just make something that we find interesting.”
