Just hit 1,000 comments. I've been browsing this site since around 2007, I remember checking it out during High School classes, but I never really posted comments. Throughout college and after college, I used the site sparingly, but never really left, mostly lurking. Now that I have an office job, I spend a lot of my time on Sputnik, and I've made ~500 comments in the past two months, as compared to the ~500 I made in the previous 8 years. List is albums that had a huge influence on me. | 1 | | Santana Milagro
I didn't really listen to music much as a young'un. I mostly just listened to whatever my dad would put on, which in retrospect was pretty good. A lot of `70s rock like Led Zeppelin, etc. But Santana was the first concert I ever attended when I was probably around 6 or 7. | 2 | | Pokemon 2BA Masta
The first CD I ever bought. | 3 | | Daft Punk Discovery
The first GOOD CD I ever bought. Still one of my favorite albums to this day. | 4 | | Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication
This is the album/band that convinced me to pick up the guitar and bass. Not as into them as I used to be, but still a big inspiration. | 5 | | Reel Big Fish Turn the Radio Off
My first band I joined in high school at age 16 was a ska band. It was a pretty good time. It fell apart after we started graduating though. | 6 | | Streetlight Manifesto Everything Goes Numb
Still one of my favorite bands/albums ever. | 7 | | Coheed and Cambria From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness
This album is ten years old this year. This blew my damn mind 10 years ago, and I still love it. | 8 | | Explosions in the Sky The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place
My first post-rock album. EitS are a bit of a "post-rock by numbers" band, but I still love this album very much. | 9 | | Glassjaw Worship and Tribute
At age 26, I've still only been in one serious relationship. It happened in college, and it was a shitty one. I ended up becoming majorly depressed after it, because I was dumb and didn't know how to handle life. I ended up getting kicked out of college as well. This album helped me through my depressed stupor. I went back to college and finished my degree as well. | 10 | | Godspeed you! Black Emperor Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada
Godspeed are amazing. 'Nuff said. | 11 | | Bomb the Music Industry! Vacation
Jeff Rosenstock is basically my spirit animal. | 12 | | Thank You Scientist Maps of Non-Existent Places
Saw these guys open for Coheed. They blew me away. If you haven't listened to this, do it. An amazing amalgamation of ska, prog, jazz, funk, pop... just a great album/great band. | 13 | | Ninja Sex Party NSFW
It's ridiculous, but I kind of have a man crush on Danny Sexbang, sooooo... | 14 | | Protest the Hero Fortress
They kind of went downhill after this album, but Kezia and Fortress are top notch. | 15 | | Thrice Vheissu
I love all of Thrice's work, and I don't know which album is my favortie. This might be it. | 16 | | Rx Bandits Gemini, Her Majesty
All of the Bandits' stuff has been very good, but their newest album was their best, I think. | 17 | | Gorillaz Demon Days
Just a great nostalgic album for me. | 18 | | Between the Buried and Me Colors
I didn't "get" this album at first. Once I finally sat down and really listened to it, I fell in love with it. | 19 | | Parkway Drive Killing With a Smile
This is about as heavy as I get. Metalcore isn't that heavy, I know. | 20 | | Tupper Ware Remix Party 2nite
The bass on this is SO GOOD. Take Daft Punk, mate them with Ratatat, and add a dose of Flea.
And you've got Tupper Ware Remix Party. | |

09.25.15 | Cheers, Sputnik. In before not enough metal, and for some reason #20 didn't show up, and I can't edit my list from the office. LAME. | deathschool
09.25.15 | Nice list. I look forward to seeing more of you around the site. | evilford

good for you :] | DinosaurJones
09.25.15 | It's easy to look back now and be like "Man, I was a dumb shit," but given how naive I was (And let's be honest, I still kind of am), it's not much of a surprise. It took me awhile to get over it, but now I just consider it a valuable life experience. | deathschool
09.25.15 | That's great to hear, man. I thought that I wasted too much time going through similar things a few years ago. But I'm only 23 now, and I'm trying hard to stay on track for improving my life. Reading things like that makes me hopeful in that maybe I haven't wasted as much time as I feel like I have. | DinosaurJones
09.25.15 | Yeah, it's hard not to dwell on things, but honestly, it's okay to dwell on them if you're looking at them in different ways.
Going over the same thing over and over again, looking at it the same way doesn't help. But a shift in perspective definitely can help. | guitarded_chuck
09.25.15 | cant look back on past decisions regretfully because we were all different people in different circumstances with less wisdom than the present
hi5 from another og user | DinosaurJones
09.25.15 | Yeah, it's crazy to think I've been using this site for so long.
I discovered it back when the old mxtabs site was around, haha. That was my go to for learning new songs on guitar. | Snake.
09.25.15 | this is a strangely sad list tbh | DinosaurJones

09.25.15 | Ah, there's the elitism I've come to know and love from this place. Thank you. | basikchanL

09.25.15 | ANYWAYS, I got the last item to show up, now that I remembered. Everyone should listen to it if they like funky bass and music to shake their booty to.
If you don't like that, your loss. | KILL
09.25.15 | amateur! | DinosaurJones
09.25.15 | We can't all be like you, KILL :[ | zakalwe
