JWT155 07.31.15	Voice acting takes talent but it's essentially 2 separate mediums; part of what made Heath and Jack great jokers was their screen presence, mannerisms and the fact they physically embodied the role. Not saying Hammill couldn't do those things as well, but it's apples and oranges.
BandNewbac 07.31.15	for me its either Mark Hamill or Jack Nicholson. Ledger was great but very over credited for being "the" joker.

BandNewbac 07.31.15	agree with Rowan to be honest, especially for a character like the joker where so much of his spirit lies in how he talks and not how he presents himself. which is part of what makes the Jared Leto joker look even worse from what i've seen so far.

BandNewbac 07.31.15	I don't mind the tattoos at first glance but writing "damaged" on his head gives me the impression that for the whole film they will be forcing the idea that the joker is crazy down our throats and not letting the character and the dialogue therein speak for itself. but as i say i can't really judge a this point having only heard one line of dialogue. Leto is an incredible actor granted, and his acting in the film will be on parr with many of his other great performances for sure.

evilford 07.31.15	ledger was perfect. TDN is one of my favorite movies cuz it's a great, fun movie but mainly because of ledger. his nihilistic insanity is indescribably entertaining

Rowan5215 07.31.15	Even if you're not a comic guy you have everything to gain by reading Killing Joke Bane was great but the movie was poorly written, cliche and boring tbh. Agreed that with Joker in Talia's place it could have been magnificent Also just gonna quickly say Cillian's Scarecrow was terrific in all three

Rowan5215 08.01.15	Yea Sunshine is very good indeed Cillian is one of the more underappeciated actors around right now. THERE'S NOTHING TO FEAR EXCEPT FEAR ITSELF sorry Lloyd he sucked pretty hard shrug emoji have you seen it recently? Rewatching changed my opinion pretty hard
PayneTiger777 08.01.15	Don't forget John DiMaggio from Under the Red Hood. He did a pretty decent job as the Joker. Michael Emerson also did a good job in The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 animated film. I thought they both did a better job than Troy Baker since he basically mimicked Hamill's Joker and didn't try anything new.

Lord(e)Po)))ts 08.01.15	i cant say ranking voice actors amongst live action actors is really logical, its a completely different niche. doesnt make much sense. obviously hamill is the greatest joker voice actor of all time but you cant really put him in with live action actors (altho if u made me id still put him above any of them, but its just not fair.) heath is the best joker so far for me but i kind of hate the Nolan batman trilogy and even tho he was a great joker for what those movies demanded, he was not a very good joker if you look at it from a comic accuracy perspective also Under the Red Hood joker wasnt that good. Michael Emerson as dark knight returns part ii joker was amazing however

Rowan5215 08.01.15	Yea it's not really logical but this is just a personal favourites list rather than claiming any sort of objectivity or anything so I don't mind comparing apples and oranges He was definitely less true to the comics than his peers but that's not a downside for me so much. taking a well established character like the Joker and interpreting it your own way takes a lot of balls and he's probably the most creative Joker I'll have to check out Emerson's Joker

As a quasi-professional actor myself I definitely know the demands of physically inhabiting a character and how much work it takes to do it as well as Heath did. To me taking away that visual element means you have to work that extra mile to inhabit the character through your voice. Of course I'm not demeaning either field of work, immense respect to those who inhabit both

Lord(e)Po)))ts 08.01.15	well as a not professional actor i can safely say that seeing an actor do an amazing job in live action takes my breath away more than any voice actor ever can regardless of how good their performance is. that being said... mark hamill is still >>> all of these guys
Lord(e)Po)))ts 08.01.15	also, when ur a voice actor you have to rely on the animators doing a good job with body language etc too and you have to work off that, its restrictive. if they fuck up and do a bad job, no matter how good your voice acting is it wont deliver and you have no control over that
Rowan5215 08.01.15	Yea I'm not saying a fantastic voice performance will necessarily be more enjoyable than a fantastic live action one, more that it's harder to achieve the former That's very true but in the same sense live action actors are restricted by what their bodies can physically do while a voice actor isn't. Both share other restrictions too like the quality of script and dialogue etc
