| Building a vinyl collection
I have well over 200 CDs acquired over the course of 12-ish years, so since a.) I got a record player this past Christmas and have been criminally underusing it, and b.) I just got $80 as a belated birthday present, I figured it's time to expand my record collection! What I have now isn't much, but hey, quality over quantity, right? | | 1 |  | Modest Mouse
This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About
The newest addition, acquired yesterday :3 I only heard this album for the first time a few nights ago but I've been really digging it since then. I love the eclectic yet catchy musicianship in each track, and how the whole thing just drips with emotion. Also, kudos to Modest Mouse for taking advantage of the extra space allowed by a double LP, and adding two high-quality bonus tracks! "Edit the Sad Parts" in particular would have been a highlight on the original album imo, though "Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset," "Breakthrough," "Beach Side Property" and "She Ionizes and Atomizes" are even better. | | 2 |  | Tool

Hall of Fame: Class of 2013
My parents got me this for Christmas as a sort of fan-club type thing. The band picked what they viewed as the five best tracks they performed live in 2013, and released them in the form of this double LP. Both vinyls have a really cool design: clear with black splotches. The jacket was autographed by each member, and currently hangs framed in my room.
Umphrey's McGee are a phenomenal live band, and this release does them justice. While you obviously can't see the unbelievable light shows which accompany their performances, their musicianship is second-to-none, their songs are simultaneously free-flowing and intricately structured, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to see a good rock show. | | 5 |  | Miles Davis
