I don't know how the developers of Runescape didn't just bail on the project because of Java. C# is practically the same style language as Java and it's milestones better. C++ is a gift from god though. So much better than any other programming language and you can do pretty much anything you want with it. What really gets me mad is why most companies still use PHP for their sites. USE ANGULARJS YOU SQUARES

Feather 06.30.15	C++ is what I had to learn my freshmen year. I was decent at it, but it took up a lot of my time. Has anyone here worked with matlab, I had to work with that as well and it is like a watered down C++ that is better at doing matrices and math.

silentstar 07.01.15	i think you just answered your own question - any respectable STEM degree should teach a couple calculus courses because while admittedly you won't run across calculus in your work, it provides you with the mathematical maturity to understand what is happening in higher level concepts (big-O notation which is a foundational computational concept uses limits, for example) calculus is also used to prove a lot of theories in linear algebra and statistics (which are used on the reg. in comp sci) when needing to find the maximum/minimum of an expression (for example, in statistics, finding the least squares estimator - statistics is used in data science, AI and machine learning btw, emerging fields that will only get bigger) outside of theoretical uses, calculus is used a lot in system modelling and numerical analysis. just because you won't be doing integrals while coding doesn't mean it's not necessary also, computer science != programming - computer science is about computation (i.e. a subset of mathematics), programming is simply a tool that implements the theory for practical purposes

I hope I didnt sound ignorant on the subject I didnt major in CS, was truly curious if you guys take calculus courses and the answer "of course" just left more questions for me, like I was missing something obvious lol. I'm a mechanical engineer that picked up a minor in math so not only have I taken practically all of the bachelor level calculus classes but I've used a lot of their applications extensively
