JWT155 07.29.15	1 and 3 are nearly completely different films. 1 is just a raw action flick, a man struggling with his marriage, thrown into chaos, far from perfect, claws his way to survival. 3rd one is pretty much a mystery/suspense film.

theTourist 07.29.15	I initially thought that you were leaving 5 off as a statement about how it should be erased from existence. Don't see it. It's a complete waste of time and John McClane hardly feels like the same character from the earlier movies. 1 is a masterpiece and 2 is criminally underrated. 4 has its moments but loses itself into dumb PG-13 action and CGI. 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5
evilford 07.29.15	the thing I like about the plot in #1 is that for most of the movie, (at least the first time you see it) you think Gruber's group are actually terrorists or whatever. then you learn towards the end of the movie that they're actually thieves and they were pretending to be terrorists so the FBI would follow terrorism procedures and cut the power, automatically doing away with the last safeguard on the Nakatomi vault. kind of a brilliant plot twist if you ask me. I mean I guess it's a given throughout the movie that they're going for the stuff in the vault but it only becomes clear towards the end that they have no terrorism motivation at all and were using that as a guise to take advantage of the FBI's anti-terrorist procedures.
danielcardoso 07.29.15	A Good Day To Die Hard is such a piece of shit. Great ranking, same as mine if you ask me. But to be honest, Die Hard 1 and 3 are just about tied for me.
mandan 07.29.15	Yeah, it's all opinion. It's kinda like with the Terminator movies: some prefer the 1st one and some the 2nd. Don't think many people out there think T3 or Salvation is the best Terminator movie.
mandan 07.29.15	@theTourist: One of my issues with 4 is Justin Long, imo he was a miscast for the film and kinda detracts from it. Also, the villain is by no means on the level of the Grubers, but still okay I guess. But aside from that, 4 is imo still an entertaining film overall, but 5 is just a chore to watch.

danielcardoso 07.29.15	His character grew on me as the movie progressed. Also loved Tim Olyphant as a villain here, his work on Justified was amazing.
JWT155 07.29.15	5 completely destroys who John Mcclane is. John Mcclane is a man of the people, he values life, he's far from perfect, he fucks up a lot and falls down many times before he succeeds. That person is non existent in the final Die Hard.
