05.19.15 | sput's [new-ish] pie chart! breakdown:
- the pie chart holds up to 8 slices
- whenever a band is rated 3.5 or higher, the band's genres will contribute to your pie chart
- only the primary and secondary genres on said bands will contribute, the tertiary genre's purpose only seems to be utilized in the charts:
(when you search alt rock in the charts, any band with alt rock as either primary, secondary, or tertiary will show up.)
- primary and secondary genres contribute the same amount of "points" to the pie chart
- the higher scores have a stronger effect than others:
giving an album a 5.0/5 will have a much stronger effect on your pie chart than giving it a 3.5/5.
- sometimes/often you'll hvae numerous genres have the same amount of "points" as one another, the pie chart will seemingly randomly choose between the two every time you refresh or reload
- when holding your mouse/clicker over a slice, only albums by bands you've rated a 4.5/5 or higher may show up. the bands seen, however, do not have to contribute "points" themselves: i.e.
off minor has the tags: hardcore, emo, and jazz
despite not contributing any "points" to jazz, it may still show up when you hover over a jazz slice. | TheSpaceMan

05.19.15 | whoops wrong one! as i recall it: it was 6 in the old pie chart, then when the new one first came out it was 7. then the system was updated for a short period of time to add a bunch of new tags, and there was a request made to have 8 slices (because 7 is kind of a funny way to cut up a pie/pizza lol), and now we here. :] | Cygnatti
05.19.15 | also fair warning, the visible numbers seen on the charts are rounded estimations at their very very very best. it will not detect minor changes unless the "total up tallied points" on it are very low (as in having very few ratings at 3.5 or above).
meaning that changing a few of your 5s to a 4.5 and vice versa will often seem to have no effect whatsoever. the effect is there, but it won't show it to you. | demigod!
