| Favourite labels
What's everyone's favourite labels in terms of quality of music released? | | 1 | | Fall of Efrafa
Inle
HALO OF FLIES - Brilliant label and distributor that deals with primarily post metal and hardcore punk (particularly blackened).
Favourite albums: All of Fall of Efrafa's, Locktenders' 'Rodin' and Svffer's 'Lives we Live'. | | 2 | | A Forest of Stars
Opportunistic Thieves of Spring
PROPHECY - Deal with primarily black and doom metal, most of which is a bit... unusual, or folk influenced. I use unusual in a good way, but don't expect much of the norm to come from these guys.
Favourite albums: All of A Forest of Stars', all of Tenhi's excellent discography, Negura Bunget's 'Maiastru Sfetnic' to name a few. | | 3 | | Omega Massif
Karpatia
DENOVALI - A hugely varied German label that pretty much has everything but the kitchen sink. Hugely recommended.
Favourite albums: Omega Massif's small but brilliant discography, Celeste's larger but equally as brilliant discography, Her Name Is Calla's 'The Heritage'. There's a lot. So good. | |

05.17.15 | My love for Denovali grows stronger by the day. | NeroCorleone80

05.17.15 | Earache and Unique Leader Records | Ryus
05.17.15 | brainfeeder | Alastor
05.17.15 | My choice would be Ván records. They have some of the best doom/BM bands (The Ruins Of Beverast, Urfaust) but also lots of non-metal/psychedelic stuff (The Devil's Blood (rip), Joyless). | trvvve
05.17.15 | earache[2] | Tunaboy45
05.17.15 | Nuclear blast
Relapse
Kscope
| MonotoneMop
05.17.15 | Count Your Lucky Stars

05.17.15 | CA$H MONEY RECORDS | Evreaia
05.17.15 | Sepulchral Prods is my fav I guess
| DrGonzo1937
05.17.15 | Probably Relapse, Road Runner and Dischord off the top of my head. | ScuroFantasma
05.17.15 | Probably Nuclear since a good majority of the stuff I listen to is on their label. | Tunaboy45
05.17.15 | Roadrunner used to be good | Archelirion
05.17.15 | Actually, I was gonna challenge that but looking at their list of artists now I can't really disagree. They have Gojira, Kvelertak and Mastodon, but they also have King 810. | Cosmoblue
05.17.15 | Dark Descent, Daemon Worship Productions, Season of Mist, Profound Lore | Let

05.17.15 | listening to an album 1 put out right now actually nice | puntugruhm
05.17.15 | denovali is the best label oat | Archelirion
05.17.15 | It's starting to become that way to be honest. Just the variety of great stuff they have is practically unrivalled. | puntugruhm
05.17.15 | it's all quality and a huge quantity. when i saw their website i was awestruck by just how rad it is. and the dudes who run it are super nice/ into the music (obviously) they curate the label so damn well. ugh. just everything about it is perfection. | SPRFanOf5H
05.17.15 | Island, Mass Appeal, Def Jam, Roc-A-Fella, Columbia, and sometimes I like what Mad Descent brings.
Interscope and Epic are both fucked up mainstream labels, terrible management as far as I'm concerned. | Havey
05.17.15 | harmonia mundi | Sevengill
05.17.15 | Halo of Flies is awesome. I got Vilagvege on vinyl from them last year. | argonaut
05.17.15 | Deep Elm rules. | organizedsound
05.18.15 | It's been said before, but I think that some of the best labels are ones that build a collective but diverse identity where you can kind of follow them blindly and continually get great material that you may not have otherwise thought to listen to. Hydra Head is one of the best examples I can think of. There's a handful of current labels that I treat with roughly the same respect. Some are obvious, but here we go:
-Profound Lore. Unbeatable big papa of underground metal/noise right now. Just look at some of the releases they've put out in the last year ALONE: Old Man Gloom, Prurient, Bell Witch, Pyramids, Sumac, Leviathan, Full of Hell/Merzbow, Pallbearer, Monarch, and waaaay more.
-The Flenser. I can't believe nobody's mentioned them yet––FANTASTIC label in throughout the last few years. Kayo Dot, Planning for Burial, HANL, Wreck & Reference, Boduf Songs, Sannhet, and a ton more. They've carved out a magnificently dark and specific niche.
-Sargent House. They seem to be in a bit of a rut right now, but given Cathy's track record, I'm sure they'll be kicking ass again soon. Maybe I've just grown out of them a little––I can't really dig many more ASIWYFA/Mylets-esque bands. Nevertheless, they still have Boris, Chelsea Wolfe, Tera Melos, and a ton more. I'll always have a soft spot for them because of my high-school years. For a while, it seemed as if they were on to something incredible. Hella, Zach Hill, Melos, Zechs, TTNG, Chelsea, Russian Circles, Omar, Maps and Atlases, and Fang Island were just pumping out killer album after killer album. And they always put together fun tours. | organizedsound
05.18.15 | Some other favorites:
-Gilead Media
-Polyvinyl. Pretty spotty, but in addition to appearing to be great(or at least fun) people (they never miss the airheads and goodies),they have Deerhoof, Joan of Arc, Owen and of Montreal.
-Thrill Jockey
-Drag City
