05.07.15 | Wynton Marsalis's J Mood is one of my ten current favorites from 1986 (out of about 30 or so) and it's the lone non-metal release in that countdown. |

05.07.15 | Wynton Marsalis - Blood on the Fields
it's an oratorio that's 3.5 hours, but it's an incredible experience. |

05.07.15 | fffuuuuck snowdog, really? posting that while I was typing? and I almost put J Mood, haha. |

05.07.15 | Stuff like Davis, Rollins, Coltrane, and Mingus is standard (and required) material; however, make sure you check out some regional jazz. Bossa Nova is definitely worth looking into if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere (Getz/Gilberto), and definitely look into some middle eastern jazz. |

05.07.15 | @Sevengill I'm glad someone other than me has heard J Mood. Honestly I had to add it to the database. |

05.07.15 | I met Marsalis at Litchfield Jazz Camp when I was in high school, haha. Wasn't the friendliest, but he had a show to play and giving a pep talk to a bunch of teenagers just wasn't on his agenda I guess. He's a brilliant musician, though. |
