05.03.15 | just a tip: if you start buying single issues don't ever buy anything from Marvel and DC. they are ad ridden corporate cash grabs these days. just download them, they don't need your money. put your money towards independent publishers like Image Comics (the best company in the game right now). if you are going to get graphic novels thats different, there are some great older marvel and dc stories out there. but im just gonna rec you non-marvel and dc shit because these comics are all way better anyway

05.03.15 | Not big on comics but I've been interested in the Fables series. It's what the newish Telltale Games' "The Wolf Among Us" game was based on. Puts the old fairytale characters into the human world with a much more adult targeted tone. |

05.03.15 | Not much of a comic book reader, but The Dark Knight Returns is fantastic. Also read some of Matt Fraction's Hawkeye run which was very good as well. Not sure if he's still doing it since I don't read them anymore though |

05.03.15 | Watchmen

05.04.15 | Potsy's Image list is spot on, if you are interested in DC/Marvel:
DC:
Batman Vs. Predator (fucking read this)
Kingdom Come
Final Crisis
DK Returns
All Star Superman
The Killing Joke
Superman Red Son
Batman: Black Mirror
New 52 Green Lantern is pretty good imo but not for everybody
New 52 Wonder Woman and Aquaman is supposedly good
Marvel:
Wolverine: Old Man Logan
Planet Hulk
Superior Spider-Man
Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt
Moon Knight by Warren Ellis (Vol. 1 of Marvel Now)
Uncanny X-Force by Rick Remender
Venom by Rick Remender
Don't let continuity/reading order confuse you. Just dive in. That's the best way. If you like something, read other stuff from that writer or explore more stories of that particular character/universe.
Happy reading! |

05.04.15 | Also, Transmetropolitan, C.O.W.L., and Planetary are ESSENTIAL independent series worth your time. |

Parallels
05.05.15 | Blankets is a HUGE graphic novel and its more literature-like and is about modern relationships. Lots of visual poetry. |
