05.01.15 | Happy to see the love for The Dismemberment Plan and BBNG. |
Dodenakker
05.01.15 | Maybeshewill sounds like any other hip post-rock band out there.
I would like to add Sikth and, to a serious degree, Chelsea Wolfe |
EasyModeDX
05.01.15 | Colin Stetson
Pan.Thy.Monium
Comus
Cardiacs
There are more but these just off the top of my head. Glassjaw are a big influence for many bands but they always seem to stay one step ahead of the pack with their new material. Could be a possiblility. |

05.01.15 | 'Maybeshewill sounds like any other hip post-rock band out there.'
Name them. Please. If you know something I don't know :') (latest album doesn't count).
100% agreed with the Cardiacs as well dude, off the charts with originality! |

05.01.15 | A Forest of Stars I think are pretty unique. |
wtferrothorn
05.01.15 | Animal Collective |
IronGiant
05.01.15 | other than 6 and maybe 4, I don't see any of these bands "not sounding like anyone else" |
JS19
05.01.15 | Chuck a few people they sound like out there then, I'm curious : ) |
FadedSun
05.01.15 | I always thought mewithoutyou were fairly unique, but maybe I don't listen to a lot music from that genre. |
JS19
05.01.15 | I always thought mewithoutyou went hand in hand with that sort of noodly, ambling Listener kinda band but I don't listen to them, or anything like it often either |

05.01.15 | Giant Squid: the band that don't even sound like themselves. |

05.01.15 | I mean, if Autechre is up here then you gotta include Boards of Canada. They're what got me into electronic music to begin with and I have yet to find any artist that sounds like them or captures the atmosphere they create, which is frustrating because I need moar |

05.01.15 | Bands like maybeshewill:
65daysofstatic
God is an Astronaut
This Will Destroy You
Sleepmakeswaves
Collapse Under the Empire
and even ASIWYFA to a degree.
|
JS19
05.01.15 | Yeah I'm super familar with all those bands and I don't even slightly see it. 65days use their electronic elements to create a completely different sound. God is an Astronaut aren't even close, they build on one idea per song. Collpase Under the Empire are similar to them but with better production. TWDY are extreme ends of the same genre.
Sleepmakeswaves are closest but even then lack the sampling, the metal edge to the guitars and emphasise percussion completely differently. You just kinda listed some random post rock bands : / |
puntugruhm
05.01.15 | maybe residents, kind of portal, swans, fushitsusha, sabbath for their time, helmut lachenmann, peter brotzmann, hijokaidan, keiji haino, the gerogerigegege off the top of my head.. |

nakedwesmile
05.01.15 | You could say Morton Feldman, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Sun Ra, Captain Beefheart, Albert Ayler and early Swans are truly original if you didn't know their influences |
