I also love Raymond Chandler's writing style. |

10.28.14 | i'll rec you some classic books that revolve around the evil of human beings:
joseph conrad - heart of darkness
albert camus - the plague
lee harper - to kill a mockingbird (well, it is about some evil/ignorant people, but mainly it's a magnificent book, even if you've already read it once in high school)
carson mccullers - the heart is a lonely hunter (as the title suggests, it's about loneliness, but it's about so much more, the cruelty of human beings fx., she was good friends with lee harper and the main character reminds me a bit of scout, and tennesee williams, but that's another story)
flannery o'connor - everything that rises must converge (a short story, but one of the absolute best. flannery o'connor was a genius)
ralph ellison - invisible man (i still have nightmares about that fight scene, jesus christ)
oscar wilde - the picture of dorian grey (this is a stretch, but what a stretch!)

10.28.14 | anything is better than a farewell to arms |
PappyMason
10.28.14 | I really enjoyed A Farewell to Arms.
Oscar Wilde - The Picture of Dorian Grey [2]
Also Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a great read.
John Hersey's Hiroshima is pretty chilling, really short too.
If your into short stories, i recently read Henry James' The Madonna of the Future and Other Early Stories. I haven't read too much by James but I enjoyed quite a few of his stories.
Elias Canetti's memoirs are quite good as well, 'The Tongue Set Free' was a great read.
