Slipknot Ranked
1Slipknot
Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)

This is the only album by them that Corey didn't write the most juvenile lyrics known to man. It's also the album where he and the rest of the band stepped out of their comfort zone and showed that they had more musical prowess and more of a range than their previous nu-metal releases. By far their most versatile and my favorite by them.
2Slipknot
.5: The Gray Chapter

This album reminds me of old Slipknot, but at this point in their careers they actually know how to play their instruments a little better. The lyrics are nonsense for the most part, and will be embarrassing if I ever scream them when I see them live, but apart from that this album achieves everything I look for in a Slipknot album.

Slipknot

Honestly, for nostalgia mostly. I remember hearing this back in 1999 and my 5th grade self was totally blown away and this was mostly all I listened to and obsessed over for the next couple of years. Also, though they are not quite as musically proficient, it is a unique and intense spin on the genre. Surfacing is also the best nu-metal gym music ever.
4Slipknot
Iowa

If I heard this later on I may put this as 3, but alas. I Am Hated is also by far the worst song they've ever written in my opinion. Also, excluding the title track, the first half of this record is far superior to the latter half. Still the most intense and death metal-esque of the genre that I have heard.
5Slipknot
All Hope Is Gone

This album has a few kickass tracks (The Killing Name, Snuff) but then some other horrible/out of place ones which makes this album feel like a lot of B-sides instead of an actual album. Not terrible, but not good either.
