Torontonian
10.07.14 | I enjoy looking at art but goddamn even my stick figures look retarded. Agree btw, water color is nice to look at. |
Muisc4Life26
10.07.14 | Pretty much anything for me, i haven't really have painted in a while but i enjoy landscapes, abstract
and still life. So it all depends when i'm in the mood for. I'm more of fan of warm coolers like
Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Thalo Yellow-Green, etc but i do enjoy cool colors as
well such as Cerulean Blue and Hooker's Green |
Muisc4Life26
10.07.14 | @Torontonian- lol, just practice a lot bro, they are lots of stuff to learn to before you actually start painting like wash techniques, lifting, brush techniques, glazing, etc |
PappyMason
10.07.14 | Same as Torontonian, I haven't painted in ages but I remember that I sucked. |
Torontonian
10.07.14 | @Music you live in california right? have you ever been to the Geddy Institute? thats honestly one of the greatest museams i've ever been to. Asking cus you seem to dig landscape and their garden is insane(their artwork is as well). |
Muisc4Life26
10.07.14 | @Torontonian- Yes, i live in Southern California! But i never been there though, i need to start going to more museums lol. |
Torontonian
10.07.14 | @music its so awesome man. If you ever get the chance i highly recommend going if you're into that sort of stuff. |
ScuroFantasma
10.07.14 | don't really paint much, I'm decent at drawing though. |
BlueW
10.07.14 | digital, gouache, waterclours. I'm not very good at all, but having some access to physical materials helps when I'm
making album covers and stuff. |
Mythodea
10.07.14 | I like drawing and sketching using charcoal, pencils and pens. I've used paint on walls on few occasions and
currently I'm planning on starting excercising with brushes. |
SharkTooth
10.07.14 | I draw a lot, but I hate painting. |
SharkTooth
10.07.14 | I like digital best because it's easiest to undo mistakes |
Muisc4Life26
10.07.14 | I'm not the biggest fan of charcoal, it's to messy and not enough depth. I'm more into chalk pastels, it creates more of a friendly atmosphere in my eyes and i'm a sucker for colors. |
witchxrapist
10.07.14 | i like to paint on ms paint
but yeah what shark tooth said |
Mythodea
10.07.14 | @Music4Life26 I, on the contrary, love black and white images. And I don't believe charcoal isn't able to create deapth: http://arttubes.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/your-new-god.jpg A quick search on the web will show you some outstanding drawings. |

10.07.14 | i draw, rarely add colours to my stuff tho. check me out on DA

10.07.14 | Now I see you draw Manga, can I express an unpopular opinion? Maybe I'll get hate for saying this, but I
don't consider manga to be realistic as far as facial features and hair is concerned. I admire them, I like
reading them, I really stand in awe with the details. But not realistic. |

10.07.14 | I draw mostly, but I do oil painting at times |

10.07.14 | thats cool, its not supposed to be realistic, its supposed to be stylish. we can only gamble with the surroundings.
but there is very realistic manga, check this out:

10.08.14 | @Shuyin That's great stuff, indeed. Excellent I dare say. I know I should be ashemed fro being a sucker for
western art but I just can't help it. Anyway, thse drawings are what I'd like more from a manga! |
Shuyin
10.08.14 | these are from vagabond, a really good reading loosely based on the life of Miyamoto Musashi. most popular manga have really crappy illustrations (and stories), im talking stuff like naruto and bleach, i know millions worship that crap, but thats what it really is.. crap. if you try to dive in some really good manga youll find true gemslike eden planetas and even biomega or 'blame!'. but yea, its really hard to find realistic character design since manga itself is like it was made for over the top stylish designs.. dem crazy japs |
Mythodea
10.08.14 | Haha, true. I've read some manga series, but I can say that the only one I truly loved and miss now is Inuyasha. Don't know what you think of it, but I really liked it. Maybe it helped the fact that I never got to finish it. Anyway, I agree. Maybe, what really pisses me off is that I draw till my hands bleed (quotemarks) to make a face look real and then someone comes and says, Oh, yeah I can totally draw. And he makes a manga drawing.... |
Shuyin
10.08.14 | ah, i can see how that works. i used to be a really good face drawer myself, i could make a clean
copy of a photograph and i even made quite allot of them when i was around 17-19. but since i
started drawing more manga, my faces always have that 'feel' because its automatic and i cant
avoid it, weird but thats how it is.
i liked the beginning of the anime which imo was a rip off of escaflowne and halfway through the
fights started to feel forced an dull. great characters tho and everything has that fantasy feel
that s surprisingly pleasant. the author also wrote ranma 1/2 which is downright hilarious so i
always fought inuyasha had its share of clever humour.
wow im ranting |
Mythodea
10.09.14 | I'm currently trying to perfect my drawings, you know achieve Leonardo DaVinci levels (in a stylish way I mean, oc, I know he was one of the best) but that comical style keeps following me like a creepy stalker.. (is there a non creepy stalker? hmm, food for thought) |
Shuyin
10.11.14 | its hard to let go when you achieve the style and even harder if you actually happen to like it |
Mythodea
10.11.14 | Indeed. Currently, inspired by the comic epos ''The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck'', I'm writing the plot
for a similar concept, only this time for Donald Duck, one of my favorite comic cararchters. I think I'm
going to name it ''The Life & Crimes of Donald Duck''. |
Shuyin
10.11.14 | nice, im working on a concept manga and hope to release it on the next few years although im taking a break atm due to high working hours. its mostly a cyberpunk/ come to age story with some depressing aspects of modern society thrown in. the main character is an innocent girl that faces every situation with happy-go-lucky actions and the side character is a darker persona that tries to explain how everything is simple yet complicated. the plot has nothing to do with this but criticising modern society is like a main theme going on
this is the main character
http://ricardocarmine.deviantart.com/art/Yawm-446414681?q=gallery%3ARicardoCarmine%2F24900843&qo=12
and her side character (that the story has more focus on)

10.11.14 | stunning job mate, keep going! I hope you manage to publish it some day. Unfortunately I can't hope much for my work to ever be released, as I'm not a Disney employee and my country doesn't belong to the disney comic contributors (Greece) I can only hope that Disney will want to buy the rights to it or sth like that and remake it. But I guess tons of fanmade stories and comics flood their premises every year. |
Shuyin
10.11.14 | idk how disney manages their workers but in manga all thats needed is a chance to work for a publisher. i can work in any place, just need to keep in contact with my editor and (hopefully) meet the required deadlines and goals of the project.
however if it doesnt sell, the publisher can cancel it any time and keep the copyrights to the franchise.. which totally sucks |
Mythodea
10.11.14 | Disney contracts are even worse. It's a tragic story. I don't know if you know of Don Rosa. He's regarded to
be Disney's best comic maker. He created the famous Life & Times of Scrooge McDuck, which inspired Tuomas
Holopainen for his sophomore album. Anyway, that man was so underpaid and so badly treated that he had to
sell part of his comic collection to live. The money he got was more than the money he earned while working
with Disney for about 5 years. You can imagine how bad of an employer Disney is. |
Shuyin
10.11.14 | oh yea but its pretty much the same if youre a manga artist, but since the artist himself creates his franchise then he gets a percentage of everything sold related to it (legally). ofc theres only a few that achieve success and the large part need regular jobs in order to get enough money to live. but when you like it, you like it.
artist life is tough |
Mythodea
10.11.14 | it is indeed. *epic music starts playing from behind*
''No matter the art. No matter the tools you use, wheather it's a pencil, a microphone, a chisel, a stage or
whatever. No matter what you have to face, from evil editors to stupid audiences! YOU ARE AN ARTIST! YOU DO
IT FOR THE ELITE WHO CAN APPRECIATE IT! YOU DO IT NO FOR THE MONEY BUT FOR THE SAKE OF THE ART ITSELF!BRACE
YOURSELVES AND STAND TALL IN THE ARTIST'S LIFE!'' |

10.11.14 | wow amen to that |
