Top 20 Afi Songs
This was a pretty difficult list to make as they rrhave so many albums, I tried rto be as diverse as rpossible including a song from reach LP. Let Me know rrwhat ya think. |
| 1 | AFI The Leaving Song Pt. 2
Second single off of 'Sing the Sorrow', the only reason I really need is the
guitar intro. |
| 2 | Days of the Phoenix
Off 'The Art of Drowning', the beginning immediately gets the toes tapping and
the
head bopping. This flip-flops between 1 & 2 for me. |
| 3 | Total Immortal
Total Immortal is off of 'All Hallows EP' and is one of the first AFI songs I
ever
heard. So it is definitely a nostalgic song for me. |
| 4 | Girl's Not Grey
First single off of 'Sing The Sorrow' and truly showed how much AFI was adapting
and being creative since the punk rock days. |
| 5 | Malleus Maleficarum
Off of 'Black Sails In the Sunset', Jade Puget has stated that "Malleus
Maleficarum",
this song shows the influence Jade had in the band and how he changed the
direction from punk rock to more a goth rock/emo. |
| 6 | Silver and Cole
The third single off of 'Sing The Sorrow' had a slower pace to it then the
previous
singles. Slow piano intro followed by drums really grabs you early on. The
chorus
chants "YOUR SINS IN TO ME!" clinch it. |
| 7 | A Single Second
For all you waiting for some old school stuff, here it is. Off of 'Shut Your
Mouth and
Open Your Eyes', this may be high for it but this is a very nostalgic song for
me. As
mentioned above I was late to dive into AFI and went through all their old
albums
numerous times before Sing the Sorrow was out yet. |
| 8 | Brownie Bottom Sundae
Off of 'Answer that and Stay Fashionable', is an awesome punk song off their
second album. The drumming intro is easily my favorite of all AFI songs. |
| 9 | He Who Laughs Last...
Off of their first album 'Very Proud of Ya', again probably high but I love the
speed
of this song, not to mention the very punk lyrics that related to me when I
heard
them. |
| 10 | Love Like Winter
We get back into the newer stuff at this point, off of 'Decemberunderground',
many
people dislike this album but I actually do enjoy it. It is not on par with
previous
albums but still different than the majority of music that was coming out at the
time. |
| 11 | A Deep Slow Panic
Off of their latest release 'Burials' this is the first AFI song I have heard
since Sing
the Sorrow that truly had me excited. Slow buildup leading into a very catchy
chorus that Davey?s voice sounds great on. |
| 12 | God Called In Sick Today
Off of 'Black Sails In the Sunset', truly a phenomenal song. It has everything
you
are looking for in an AFI song. Davey singing, screaming and just going all in
on this
track. Honorable mention to the live version on 'I Heard A Voice' - great
performance |
| 13 | Porphyria
Off of 'Black Sails in the Sunset', this was the second song (first if not
counting the
intro) on this CD and right away you could tell this isn't the same old AFI
anymore. |
| 14 | Wester
Off of 'The Art of Drowning', this song has so much energy plus Davey at his
best.
This track consistently stands out for me on an album full of standouts. |
| 15 | This Time Imperfect
This was a hidden track off of 'Sing the Sorrow'. This was a very slow, romantic
song that ended the album in a great way. Ending to the song is the highlight
here. |
| 16 | This Secret Ninja
Off of 'Very Proud of Ya', "when you gonna say hello, but you don't know me, you
just know what you seeeeee?" Again punk was great back then. |
| 17 | 17 Crimes
Off of 'Burials', catchy, dancy, and Davey?s voices sounds better than ever. |
| 18 | Your Name Here
Off of 'Answer that and Stay Fashionable', very fast catchy punk song. |
| 19 | Medicate
This is the only track you will see me talk about nicely off of 'Crash Love'.
There are
a few decent songs off this but this is the worst album AFI has ever released in
my
opinion. |
| 20 | ...but home is nowhere
The closer on 'Sing the Sorrow' slowly builds and finishes with Davey wailing
during
the chorus and to finish it. This has been one of my favorites off that album
since
hearing it. |
