Favorite Vocalists

not in order, i just had to do this list too
1The National

Matt Berninger: may not be technically the best but i love his unique, low, relaxed
voice and is one of the main reasons why this band is one of my favorites
The Mantle

John Haughm: again, probably not technically the most proficient singer but he can
perfectly handle when to use his clean vocals and when to use the harsh, half-
whispered vocals
Still Life

Mikael Åkerfeldt: the best growls. ever.
4The Cure

Robert Smith: i love his painfully melancholic, vague voice

Björk: oh do i love her icy vocals and that bad english is really just cute
Jane Doe

Jacob Bannon: at first i hated him with passion but his voice has grown on me like
nothing else. what i love in his voice is the sheer emotion and aggression found
especially in jane doe
7The Veils
Nux Vomica

Finn Andrews: damn this guy simply kicks ass
8Neutral Milk Hotel
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

Jeff Mangum: damn it's not secret i'm a goddammit fanboy. i know he is technically
a pretty awful singer but it's the emotion and especially the lyrics that make him
one of my favorite vocalists
Hvis lyset tar oss

Varg Vikernes: the most raw and aggressive voice ever. it's a really acquired taste
but i love those shrieks
10Mercyful Fate

King Diamond: well duh, this man single-handedly brought extremely high vocals to
metal. his influence is phenomenal
Brother, Sister

Aaron Weiss: this man is a genius
12Bon Iver
For Emma, Forever Ago

Justin Vernon: what a talented singer, i'm a sucker for his falsetto
13The Antlers

Peter Silberman: again, the fucking falsetto. one of my all-time favorite vocal
performances is what he does on hospice
14Fair to Midland
Fables from a Mayfly

Darroh Sudderth: his unique nasally voice is just brilliant and adds a lot to fair to
midland's music. what a shame they are breaking up
15Sigur Ros

Jónsi: another one with an amazing falsetto. love it
