Judaspriestology (revised)

The albums of Judas Priest in order of preference.
16Judas Priest
Jugulator

Terrible, terrible album.
15Judas Priest
Nostradamus

Sucks.
14Judas Priest
Demolition

Bland, boring, didn't even finish it.
13Judas Priest
Angel Of Retribution

While I thought it was great when I first heard it, it loses it's value upon repeated listens. Certainly not an album that has aged well. Mediocre. Oh, by the way, the production sucks. Hard. Best Song: "Deal With the Devil"
12Judas Priest
Point Of Entry

Mostly a bland affair. Half is pretty much useless, and the other half is just okay. Only the diehard Priest fan may find anything worthwhile here. Best Song: "Heading Out To The Highway"
11Judas Priest
Ram It Down

Ram It Down is a bit of a disappointment. Sure, half the songs on it are pretty stellar. But the other half, not so much. One of those cases in which it's best to just jam the individual songs rather than the whole thing. Best Song: "Ram It Down"
10Judas Priest
Turbo

While I don't despise Turbo as many do, I can't say I love it either. Most of the album isn't all that bad, but the last 3 tracks really suck. Still, in the great Priest tradition, it has a very good opener and manages to be fun for the most part. Best Song: "Locked In"
9Judas Priest
Killing Machine

I don't seem to be able to love Killing Machine as much as others do. For one thing, the closer is one of the 3 songs on the album I dislike ("Evening Star" and "Take On The World"). For another, the production is unsatisfactory and leaves you wondering if the album could've sounded better. But don't get me wrong: it's still a decent album, with some nice riffs and solos here and there. Best Song: "Hell Bent For Leather"
8Judas Priest
Defenders of the Faith

DotF is not the grand album many say it is, but it has great songs all the same. Save for "Love Bites", "Eat Me Alive" and "Night Comes Down", the album is fairly enjoyable. Best Song: "Rock Hard Ride Free"
7Judas Priest
British Steel

British Steel requires several listens to truly appreciate. While not as consistent as the 70's classics ("Metal Gods, "United" and "Living After Midnight" feel a bit out of place imo) there are gems to be found. Plus, the production is impeccable. Best Song: "Rapid Fire"
6Judas Priest
Painkiller

While I don't love Painkiller as much as I did when I first heard it, I still think it has its merits. Fairly consistent (save for "All Guns Blazing"), and featuring some nice drumming, Painkiller is the last "must-listen album" of the JP catalog. Best Song: "Between the Hammer and the Anvil"
5Judas Priest
Screaming for Vengeance

This album has a lot of emotional value for me, even if it isn't as great as the 70's classics. With a fantastic opener, memorable riffs and great leads, SFV stands, in my view, as the best commercial era Priest album. "(Take These) Chains) is the only bad song on here. Best Song: "The Hellion/Electric Eye"
4Judas Priest
Rocka Rolla

A unique record in the Priest catalogue. RR is frequently dismissed among Priest fans as "the weakest 70's album". But give it a chance: it's groovy, infectious, and most of all, all instruments have their fair share. Best Song: "Run of the Mill"
3Judas Priest
Sin After Sin

Many consider SAS to be considerably weaker when compared to its predecessor and successor. But make no mistake: this is one of their finest accomplishments. Even the ballads work nicely in the album, although some may disagree there. Best Song: "Starbreaker"
2Judas Priest
Stained Class

A near-perfect record that set the tone for much of the metal that came out in the 80's and beyond. While it comes up short when compared to SWOD, it's a fantastic album on its own right. Best Song: "Beyond the Realms of Death"
1Judas Priest
Sad Wings of Destiny

Their most encompassing record. It takes a while to truly appreciate, but once it clicks, you'll see how fantastic it is. There is so much to this record that it can barely be described, and it needs to be experienced. Best Song: "Tyrant"
