| Deftones Ranked - The Way They Should Be.
Just in case you havent noticed, Deftones is my favorite band. They have been since Jr. High. Yes I know their music is simple, technically speaking. But something about them sucked me in right from the first listen and hasnt let go. They are one of the few bands that can change between each release and still kick balls. Adrenaline
I was 13. It was a lazy summer day. No school, no job, probably drunk?doing nothing but lying on the couch watching The Box. Then something magical happened that would change my life forever. The music video for Bored played and I heard Deftones for the first time. I was blown away! I had grown up listening to Heavy Metal bands like Queensryche, Megadeth, or Scorpions?but this was something else! So what do I do? As soon as I can get to the nearest music store I attempt to steal the album, but get caught shoplifting for the first time. Sucks, but I went back a few days later and got it. For free. This album was my gateway album into different yet still heavy music, and is still responsible for getting me to branch out musically. Not a lot of people agree with me, but this is the best Deftones album. It is raw, it is both metal yet melodic, it is Deftones. | | 2 |  | Deftones
Around the Fur
I would have been 15 now. I was lying in bed one night listening to the radio (yep, I did that back then). The radio station had a segment for new music that they started off with My Own Summer. While the song was playing I thought to myself ?These guys are totally ripping off Deftones!? Then, after the song was over they said who it was. Again, I was blown away! As soon as I could, I went to the nearest music store and this time paid for the album. This album was an excellent follow-up and solidified Deftones as my favorite band. | | 3 |  | Deftones

Enough of the short stories, we know by now how Deftones became my favorite band. After proving that they could pretty much go in any musical direction they wanted with White Pony, this album is a ?return to form? of sorts. It kicks hard balls and is vastly underrated! White Pony
Finally! The first time I got to see Deftones live! This album is obviously great, but not what everybody makes it out to be. This album is the height of their success, and I feel that most people think it is their best because this is when they jumped on the bandwagon. Like I mentioned above, it was a perfect album to prove that they weren?t a one trick pony? pun intended. This was the first Deftones album that included songs I don?t really care for. But I still have both my red and black limited editions in their original wrapping! | | 5 |  | Deftones
Diamond Eyes
Chi?s absence was and always will be a tragedy and musically evident. But Sergio shows here that he is a pretty good fit. This album is overall a great album. The only problem that I have is that most of the songs seem to be rushed, or forced. Transitions aren?t very smooth, or sometimes they aren?t even present. Songs tend to go from verse, straight to chorus, straight to verse. And from that the album ends up being pretty short. Still great music, could just be a little better by letting the music transition more naturally. | | 6 |  | Deftones
Koi No Yokan
First off, Leathers is probably my 3rd or 4th favorite Deftones song ever. But this album suffers from the same thing as Diamond Eyes. Rushed, shortened songs. I really hope that this isn?t the way Deftones will be from here on. Also, I really dislike Graphic Nature. I cant even listen to it. The drums are an exact rip off of Digital Bath, and they don?t even go with the music well! I really hope that was the producer forcing that, and not Abe?s idea. Saturday Night Wrist
I know, I know. A lot of people here love this album. Don?t get me wrong, I love it too! I just think it is Deftones at their worst, which still isn?t that bad. This album was made during their lowest times, while they were at the brink of breaking up, and it shows. Still a great album that I love and can listen to at any time. But if I have to choose a worst, this is it. | |
