| The Smashing Pumpkins Buyers Guide
Having most of SP's albums gives me an advantage in writing this
list.
If you are a person who wants to get into Smashing Pumpkins, or
like me, a die hard fan who's after every album possible. Look at
this buyers guide of the Smashing Pumpkins, to see what to get | | 1 | | Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
No SP fan should not have this album, if you don't have it, YOU ARE NOT A FAN. This album represents
the pinnicle of SP's success & much more. With Tonight Tonight, 1979, Zero, Bullet With Butterfly Wings
& Thirty-Three present on this 2 Disc Mastodon of an album. It has to be the main source of brilliance
for any SP fan | | 2 | | Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream
The album that almost never was, Siamese Dream had some much tension & struggle when recorded, it
all seems worth it when you listen to the results. Many of SP's classic songs are here, Cherub Rock,
Today & Disarm to name a few. Just like MCIS, no SP fan should call themselves a fan without giving this
album a listen | | 3 | | Smashing Pumpkins Adore
This album, marked a change in SP's musical direction. Replacing the distorted guitars for synthisizers,
and the screaming vocals with calm melodic singing. This album is SP's most experimental album as it
viers into electronica but still manages to keep it's rock like feel to it. Some SP fans can't listen to this
album, however, if you prepare to stomach it, you'll be able to uncover some of the unpolished gems of
SP's massive amount of songs | | 4 | | Smashing Pumpkins Gish
The album that started it all, Gish managed to somewhat give the mainstream music market what
Grunge, Alternative Rock was like, before Nirvana's Nevrmind eclipsed it. It is to all SP fans a treasured
piece of it's history, not just for being their debut album, but also being their most Rock Driven album.
Almost every song has some form of guitar solo in it, no matter how small. If you want the SP that the
underground music scene knew, get this | | 5 | | Smashing Pumpkins Zeitgeist
Their Most Recent album, many say that Billy & Jimmy are just after the money, well I say no to that.
Ture SP fans, the same with Adore will be able to stomach the album and appreciate the music inside. It
returns to SP's hard alternative roots but has a small sense of despair. I reccomend buying the albums
above before listening to this one. You need to have heard SP thouroughly before you can fully
appreciate it | | 6 | | Smashing Pumpkins Machina: The Machines of God
The last album featuring the original lineup of SP, Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, James Iha & Darcy
Wretzky. This album returns to SP's rock driven sound, however it is fused together with the Adore
electronica sound to give something fans of their earlier works & later works to savour. | | 7 | | Smashing Pumpkins Pisces Iscariot
An album of post Siamese Dream & pre MCIS B sides from certain singles of their first albums. If you
are able to find this, consider yourself lucky. This album contains some of SP's best work, making the
saying SP's B Sides are sometimes better than the album tracks themselves quite true indeed | | 8 | | Smashing Pumpkins Machina II - Friends and Enemies of Modern Music
This downloadable collection of what could've been at least 2 future studio albums. It is a good set of
stuff, but overall it lacks what made them great, but still get hold of it anyway | | 9 | | Smashing Pumpkins American Gothic - EP
This rather simple EP contains 4 new Acoustic SP songs. Only a real fan can hear SP unplugged & like it. So
if you can, get it for some nice simple fun songs | | 10 | | Smashing Pumpkins The Aeroplane Flies High
This now rare collection of every single released from MCIS is along with the Viynal of Machina II the
holy grail of SP fandom, if you ever get your hands on the boxset you will uncover the hidden b sides
that are really great | | 11 | | Smashing Pumpkins Rotten Apples
You should only be buying this for Untitled, the track kicks ass, if you have the other albums in this list,
only get this Greatest Hits album for that one song. if you want the full version of Drown, get the
Singles soundtrack, the full version has a great solo on it | |

02.23.08 | Good list idea. I only have 1 and I'm planning on getting 2. | Chewie
02.23.08 | same with me | irontusk
02.23.08 | 1,2 and maybe 3 is all you need. | Mikesn
02.23.08 | I went to go buy 1 once and it was like $35 :/ | TheGreatD17
02.23.08 | Siamese Dream is easily their best | stoopkid
02.23.08 | I like 1, but it's got so much filler. | pulseczar
02.23.08 | nice list, though I don't think Zeitgeist is worth getting. | rasputin
02.24.08 | good list. I would put Pisces Iscariot and the Aeroplane Flies High a lot higher on the list, definitely over Zeitgeist. | Neoteric
02.24.08 | I hate 1. Everyone get 2. | MoonlightBleeding
02.24.08 | #2 needs to be #1.
Lastly, Adore would turn potential fans off. Zeitgeist should be #3 then Machina #4.
And I like Adore, it's just way to out there for a lot of people. | CreamCrazy
02.29.08 | The thing about Adore is that it is musically the most diverse Pumpkins album, and won't fit every SP fans taste. But if you like the subtle, quiet songs on MCIS then Adore is a good album to get, 'nother good tip |
