DarkSideOfLucca: Just Saw A Serbian Film On Youtube

BigPleb 05.01.13	The cinematography is epic, but most of it is OTT torture porn with an underlying message nobody will grasp.
DarkSideOfLucca 05.01.13	it didn't have too much substance in terms of plot, but neither does my favorite horror film of all time, Evil Dead. Not all horror films are about that, but on the other hand this was a good horror film, not a great one because the shock did seem like it was just trying to be offensive at a lot of points rather than to add tension/horror. I liked it way more than I thought I would, though. It was more of a movie than I thought it would be, but that was probably due to all of the hype. That being said, probably won't see this film for a long time if ever again.
BigPleb 05.01.13	Its not meant to be a 'horror' film as such, but their really is nothing to talk about in terms of plot. Yeah, there were scenes that 'shocked' me but they just felt forced. I appreciate the way it is filmed though, like I said the cinematography is beautiful.

DarkSideOfLucca 05.01.13	Agreed, the baby scene and the ending felt a little forced and it was pushing it just for the sake of it but some scenes were effective imo, plus the music added a lot too and the acting wasn't too bad. Voivod- it's actually just called "A Serbian Film"

ILJ 05.01.13	Martyrs is fantastic but the last 30 minutes is just plain hard to endure. It's the cinematic equivalent of early Swans.

liledman 05.01.13	Martyrs is fairly silly, especially the ending. Salo is so far above it and other similar "fucked up" movies.

liledman 05.01.13	I mean it in the sense that Salo is above the debate about being "fucked up" because it has more going for it than just being "fucked up". I see it as a much better film.

Also Salo seemed like more of an excuse to show people degraded and tortured than to make a political statement, mind you so did A Serbian Film but atleast A Serbian film had great cinematography, soundtrack, acting, atmosphere
