PayneTiger777 02.10.13	Dark Souls really isn't that difficult. The use of the bonfires and the estus flasks made it so much easier than Demon's Souls, whereas in Demon's Souls if you die you have to start the whole level over again. You can beat most of the bosses without any help.

PayneTiger777 02.10.13	One rule of advice...there is no need to ever upgrade your armor. Focus on upgrading your weapons and shields. Since you are playing as a warrior, the best weapons to use are halberds, spears, and some of the heavy swords, such as the zweihander. Also, don't go all over the place with leveling up. Stick to upgrading strength, vitality, and endurance only. Enjoy!

cliiint 02.11.13	use FAQS and learn about different weapons and how to upgrade them dark souls was created with a community in mind, so don't feel like you're cheating if you read up on that kind of stuff. if you read faqs on exactly how to get places and kill bosses yeah you're only cheating yourself out of a great experience also read up on humanity and use it often. even if you're not playing online it helps

PayneTiger777 02.13.13	If the last boss you fought was the gargoyles, then you should probably head toward the area where the hellkite dragon is. Instead of crossing the bridge there should be a door near the area Solaire is located. You need the basement key to open it.

PayneTiger777 02.13.13	You can't go back to the asylum yet. You can do the darkroot basin and fight the moonlight butterfly. You get a new ember to give the blacksmith after that fight. Don't bother trying to fight the hydra yet. I'm actually at the same point you are right now with a level 36 character.
Winrar 02.13.13	Been playing Dark Souls ever since the PC port came out. Loving it. I'm currently doing a level 1 playthrough and i'm up to Anor Londo. Shit's great. Also, to Strider, it's a really subjective question but i personally prefer Dark Souls because it feels like you're playing the old school ninja gaiden games. Pretty difficult at first, but once you learn everything, it's really rewarding. I mean, my first playthough took me at least 50 hours but now im looking at speedrunning it.

apert 02.13.13	fuck i love dark souls so much completed it like 8 times including a no armor playthrough on NG+++++ Strider i haven't played witcher yet, but dark souls is definitely better than skyrim honestly my game of the generation definitely get it Treb i wouldn't bother going back to the asylum yet continue to the lower undead burg and 3 times on the gargoyles is really good honestly on my first playthrough they gave me the most problems as i didn't really know what i was doing at that point

Backtrack towards that area and there is a door right across from where you entered the area the first time where you can use the key. There will be a ladder and you can go further down the undead burg.

I will say, though, that the Sanctuary Guardian was really fucking tough (I was trying to cut off his tail before killing him) And the game has plenty of tough areas, but most of them are optional too (the DLC, The Painted World, revisiting the Undead Asylum) The ones that aren't optional (basically, Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith) are pretty much the only areas where I felt like the hype made sense. The game is tough but you aren't gonna break any controllers over it.

That fight was fucking HARD. I do most of them alone but I had to summon for that fight. I hear the last DLC boss is even harder. the dlc bosses are the hardest in the game along with fatty and skinny

PayneTiger777 02.14.13	I'm currently level 43 with a +9 halberd and grinding out souls by helping people with the Gaping Dragon. Gaping Dragon was one of the first bosses I beat in one try.

It's challenging, but I wouldn't call it actually HARD by any means, it just takes a little while to learn. Hell, it even lets you keep all your levels and gear and stuff when you die, you only lose your souls and humanity--that's more forgiving than any JRPG I've played.
Winrar 02.14.13	Any video game is easy as fuck when you master it. Name one person who had a walk in a park during their first Dark Soul's playthrough. Yes, Dark Souls is easy as piss once you master it but a game's difficulty should be determined by the amount of effort used to master it. People should just stop saying "Dark Souls is EASY lel i am NG++++++ cakewalk suepr l33t". Dark Souls has REAL difficulty, that trains players to learn from their mistakes, instead of gimmicky difficulty that other games place (bosses with unbelievable health pools, unnecessary death penalties, the need to grind for 3+ hours before each level) No, i wouldn't consider Dark Souls to be the hardest game i've played, not even in my top 10 or 100 but i would still consider it hard, especially compared to most games of this generation
North0House2 02.14.13	I rank it up there with Dwarf Fortress. I would only say Dwarf Fortress slightly beats it out due to the immense learning curve and the fact that there is literally no way to win. You are guaranteed to fail miserably at some point. However, once you get the hang of things, DF is not as challenging as Dark Souls continues to be. Man... I've been playing for well over 24 hours since I bought it a week ago or so, and I just killed that freaking butterfly demon. Now for the Capra Demon. Oh what a piece of crap he is.
Winrar 02.14.13	Capra Demon was one of my most hated bosses due to the limited area, but you eventually adapt. If you can't beat him, my advice is to grab a good shield with good stability and you'll be blocking most of his attacks.

Winrar 02.18.13	Right now im running ricards rapier +15 w/ CMW and using leo ring and Ring of Favor&protection. The online community hasn't been as great as it used to, but occasionally, i pull off many successful invasions with this build. Rapiers are great fun.

apert 02.18.13	yeah he took me upwards of 15 attempts, though Manus was probably the boss i died most on in the entire game the thing about the DLC bosses is that they're all really aggressive and give you no time to stop, which makes it so much harder
PayneTiger777 02.19.13	Kalameet took me about 4 tries to beat, well 3 actually because I don't really count my sorry attempt to snipe at him from above the ladder. He was definitely one of the hardest bosses in the game.

Winrar 02.19.13	@Trebor, the black knights are very vulnerable to parries. Just practice parrying on regular enemies. They're also weak to pyromancy, which any class is capable of using (provided you have a glove)
PayneTiger777 02.21.13	Just beat Dark Souls for the 4th time while doing everything possible. It was my first time doing the DLC and I thought the environments were beautiful. Artorias was a kick ass boss. I wasn't too thrilled with an all dex character I made and I thought archery would be cool, turns out it doesn't work well on most bosses.
