01.14.13 | And there goes all my Birthday cash :/. Def well spent though |
Mookid
01.14.13 | Not in my book, I loved it. 'Sleeping Giant' is actually my favorite Mastodon song |
sustainthesatan
01.14.13 | 8 is third best Mastodon in my opinion, behind Crack The Skye (1st) and Leviathan (2nd). Some good stuff here |
Mookid
01.14.13 | Crack the Skye is my 2nd favorite. They had some Mike Oldfield Greatist Hits but shit it was 24 bucks so I said screw it |
sustainthesatan
01.14.13 | Crack The Skye is easily my favorite, then Leviathan, Blood Mountain, Remission, The hunter. hunter really disappointed me |
Mookid
01.14.13 | Same here. I liked the singles but other than that the album was quite boring compared to some of their other ones. Remession is my least favorite tbh |
sustainthesatan
01.14.13 | remission was a great debut but not as good as the 3 that folowed. HUnter was just too underwhelming |
Mookid
01.14.13 | It was. hopefully they'll do better in the future |
sustainthesatan
01.14.13 | do they have a new album out later this year? |
sustainthesatan
01.14.13 | and yeah Crack The Skye is easily their best Pestiferous but to say that BLood Mountain isn't isn't doing the band justice i think |
sustainthesatan
01.14.13 | i don't know but The Hunter is a bad note to end on |
TRMshadow
01.14.13 | As weird as it may sound, Remission is actually my fave Mastodon with the one you got as my least favorite. |
Mookid
01.14.13 | I really liked the melodic guitars in that album more than anything |
sustainthesatan
01.14.13 | Remission was a pretty solid album but nothing too great-probably a 3 maybe a 3.5. no Mastodon is worth more than a 4 for me |
omnipanzer
01.14.13 | I'd hate to live where you do. Obviously you have access to the internet order on line. Used CD's are your best friend. |
omnipanzer
01.14.13 | 3 IS good. |

01.14.13 | Listen to Omnipanzer, Amazon is amazing. I myself recently ordered Bryter Layter, The Fragile, and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots all for under $10 (including shipping) |
Mookid
01.14.13 | Oh yeah, I order off of Amazon all the time. I do it when the ones are cheaper there than the store.
But yeah living in a rather moderately-low populated city doesn't do me any good. |
Killerhit
01.14.13 | did a sputnik user own this barnes and noble?
This is a very sputnik selection. |
sustainthesatan
01.14.13 | just got Silencers Death Pierce Me off of amazon myself lol. |
Mookid
01.14.13 | "hope you had fun paying $20 per cd"
Uh, one of them was 20. The others were 12 bucks at most |
sustainthesatan
01.14.13 | Try paying $70 for a Silenced album lol |
Mookid
01.14.13 | "Try paying $70 for a Silenced album lol'"
Not as bad as the Burzum albums. Some of them are like 400 bucks lol |
omnipanzer
01.14.13 | Haven't been to a store to look at CD's in a very long time but this all looks very normal to me. Best place to find really good, low priced, out of the ordinary albums is usually a place that carries used CD preferably in a college town. There are a number of reasons for this, kids liquidate their collections all the time to buy food/make rent, collections get stolen by "friends" for drug money, people buy great albums like The Soft Bulletin because of the funny Tangerine song and realize it's over their head. Easily half of my Aphex Twin discog was from used CD stores and I can only assume it's because someone recommended it and people just didn't know what they were getting into. He was also not very well known in the states back then (mid 90's - early 00's). |
Mookid
01.14.13 | That's cool omni, except I don't think there are any of those "independent" CD shops anywhere where I live. We have a flea market but they have nothing there but Christmas and Classical music compilations. The outside vendors sold by random people can actually have some good stuff there |
omnipanzer
01.14.13 | Look for used book stores, the kind that pay cash e.g. Half Price Books (Ohio), McKay Used Books (Tennessee), etc. there must be a small college town around you somewhere. Or maybe not, I live in Ohio we have a college or branch in every other town. |
Mookid
01.14.13 | Yeah yeah cool, I have one in the city somewhere that I haven't looked at. I think it's called "Too Many Books." Gonna check there for sure |
omnipanzer
01.14.13 | If they buy CD's too you'll be in heaven, guaranteed. ;-) |
insomniac15
01.14.13 | I buy most of my records from a book store too. It's shitty when you don't have a music store in the area. |
sustainthesatan
01.14.13 | "Good album"
of course its a good album lol ive heard it a thousand times, Pestiferous (not that many maybe but yano).
"Not as bad as the Burzum albums. Some of them are like 400 bucks lol"
nope you can get them all for about $15 to $20 apiece. ma |
sustainthesatan
01.14.13 | maybe up to 40 bucks but thats because black metal in general is ridiculously underground (later Satyricon and Cradle and Dimmu are exception because they all had big singles-K.I.N.G for Satyricon sucks though) |
newjunk2
01.14.13 | 8 is my favorite by Mastodon as well. |
Mookid
01.14.13 | Kewl, it's amazing for sure |
