GnFnRs87 12.10.12	TDK- not just for Heath Ledger's Joker which is easily one of the most creepily unhinged psychopaths ever constructed on scree, but for the message that comes through the character, the foreboding confrontation of the darkness in each of us and the secret desire for chaos and anarchy that can break even the best of people TDKR- I'm a sucker for epic endings, even though it wasn't as well done as TDK it comes quite close and they managed to avoid comparisons with the Joker by constructing Bane as a very different villain with different motives BB- I still really liked this, just not as much as the other two. I've never been crazy about origin stories but this is one of the better I've seen. Liam Neeson was a great basis on which to build the level of villain, which has been a strong point of the trilogy in my opinion, the standard of villains.

I did not like the Two-Face element, even though I know for the sake of the grand story it was important (with overarching symbolism/themes/etc).it never was as well written and imo that's what stops TDK from being a classic. 8.8/10 BB was a decent movie except for the fucking fact that vaporizing an entire city's water supply will obviously vaporize people, who are kind of made of water and wouldn't be able to withstand that regardless. 7/10 TDKR was messy and overwrought. 6.5/10

Anyone can make baseless claims on how "terrible" something is, yet you've not said a single thing that reinforces that at all." minority /=/ pretentious really? i need to reinforce something so blatantly awful? okay. the fights are choppy. in all three films, particularly begins. it abuses shakey cam and fast edits to the point where fights are just blurs. the chase sequences (mainly thinking of tdk and tdkr) have no pacing to them at all (let's not get into generic cop guys spouting horrible cliche one-liners in both films "we're sitting ducks", "that's not good!", "i didn't sign up for this!", etc), not to mention they're completely tensionless. but the biggest offense is in tdkr. the editing just seems completely off. some examples: the head-crushing scene (or whatever the fuck was supposed to be happening there), the batman and bane sewer fight (which looked worse than an average power rangers fight), the incredibly clunky climax (especially bane's blink and miss it death scene). it's terrible.

I see what you are saying, but Nolan really has just as much right to interpret these characters as much as anyone else. I think he puts a great "realistic" twist on them while still retaining what makes them "them" in the first place.

Polyethylene 12.11.12	If I had to choose a favourite I'd probably say TDKR, but I loved them all. Batman Begins has the atmosphere, TDK has the tension, TDKR has the emotion and epic scope.
SitarHero 12.11.12	213 Ledger's Joker is one of the most compelling and charismatic cinematic villains of all time. TDK is one of the best movies of all time and easily the best of the trilogy. BB was great as a superhero origin story. Better done than pretty much any other Superhero origin story ever, except perhaps Iron Man. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman OWNED their roles. I really wanted to like TDKR, but it fell kind of flat. Bane was good but not great. The fights between Bats and Bane were fairly disappointing and the suspension of disbelief required (even though it's a superhero story, it's the tone was trying to be realistic) was too great to ignore the plotholes.

Polyethylene 12.11.12	Its plot was probably more consistent than TDK's, it just wasn't as jam-packed so any missteps it did make were far more visible. I liked just about every character in TDKR and how they handled, they weren't as archetypal and clear-cut as TDK but nothing even approaching "awful." I hate ho-hum editing in movies (Quantum of Solace's almost ruined it for me) and didn't find TDKR's to be at all bad. It sounded great in a big theatre and pretty muddy in a small one, will have to see how it fares on DVD

I probably wouldn't approach an album that had a 2.5 average rating no, then again ratings on this site can be very misleading in either direction, so I'd probably base whether I bothered with it or not on how it was described rather than a number floating next to it
