Pink Floyd: Top 20 Songs
Ah, Pink Floyd. One of, if not the best, rock bands in history, which is
incredibly hard to rank. I'm giving it a shot although I'll probably miss
something but yeah here it is |
20 | Pink Floyd High Hopes
Although Division Bell was lacking behind most of PF's albums, their final song is one
to be remembered. High Hopes is not only a great song but plays with lyrics of their
older songs, which gives it a reason to be #20. |
19 | The Gold It's In The...
A rocker from Obscured By Clouds, pretty short, and pretty sweet. |
18 | Lucifer Sam
Sounds perfect for an old spy movie or some shit. Anyway, it's awesome. |
17 | Any Colour You Like
If you were floating through space, gazing at the stars passing you by, tripping out
of your mind, this song would be the soundtrack. |
16 | The Trial
You might disagree, but the climax of The Wall is definitely this song. It's one of
their weirder ones, but it's lyrics to the story of Pink and orchestra falling apart is
superb! |
15 | Fearless
I just realized how awesome Meddle really is... minus Seamus lolz. But yeah the
buildup of this song is awesome, and the main riff is one of my favorites from PF. |
14 | Set The Controls For The Heart of The Sun
Another one of their oldies that is extremely chill. Can't think of much to say but
this song deserves to be in their top 20 for sure. |
13 | Comfortably Numb
Everyone knows it, but for a good reason. It contains one of the best guitar solos
of all time, and is even better live... but I won't count that. |
12 | Have a Cigar
"Oh and by the way, which one is Pink?" This song's lyrics are simply awesome. |
11 | Pigs (Three Different Ones)
I used to like sheep much more than Pigs (TDO) but after many, many more listens
to animals, this one grew on me. The piano, the anger, the harmonica solos, all of it
just works. |
10 | Astronomy Domine
Ah, their first song, and it's one of the best because of the sound during the time.
Although the song sounds quite old, you wouldn't expect it to be 45 years old. |
9 | The Great Gig In The Sky
A beautiful masterpiece. This song can really get to you. |
8 | One of These Days
I'm pretty sure this is their heaviest song... it's straight up badass. Waters' coolest
bass line for sure. "One of these days, I'm going to cut you into little pieces! |
7 | Run Like Hell
The high-point of the wall IMO. One of Floyd's faster, more up-beat pieces in their
collection. |
6 | Us and Them
The longest song from DSOTM that's quite powerful. Amazing saxophone work and
overall a very chilling song. |
5 | Wish You Were Here
I can never get enough of this song. It's simple, but it works. Never gets old |
4 | Shine on You Crazy Diamond
Preferably the first 5 parts, but it's all one big masterpiece. I don't think there's any
finer opening to an album than this song, with the chilling guitar riff and what not. |
3 | Dogs
The 17-Minute epic of animals that really feels much shorter than that... because
it's so awesome. Some of Gilmour's finest guitar work. |
2 | Time
Probably the coolest song to listen to with headphones. This is what made DSOTM
so amazing, creating the buildup to this song, and it's definitely worth it. |
1 | Echoes
The 23 minute epic that takes up half of Meddle takes the gold for Pink Floyd. One
of the most experimental pieces of music to ever hit progressive rock, and it's
pretty damn amazing. I can't even describe what a journey this song is, besides
being sexy. The best 23 minutes of your god damn life. |
