DarkSideOfLucca: Just Read The Evil Dead Remake Script

DarkSideOfLucca 10.26.12	This may seem like a small complaint to some, but the lack of "join us" bothered me. Oh, well. Can't have everything.
Crymsonblaze 10.26.12	I'm ready to see what they do with it. I think I'll be able to put the trilogy out of my mind and hopefully enjoy it for what it is.
DarkSideOfLucca 10.26.12	@Crymson-There are a lot of noticeable differences, specifically in how all of the violence plays out, so I think that will make it easier to not compare it so much. I personally worship the original, so it wouldn't really be fair for me to expect the remake to be on par/superior, but judging by the script it will be a horrific experience in its own right.

DarkSideOfLucca 10.26.12	I almost didn't want to either, but I couldn't help myself. Plus, this is the kind of movie that I won't be able to REALLY judge until I see it on screen...Evil Dead movies are more about the execution (no pun intended) than the script

DarkSideOfLucca 10.26.12	@Simbolic- still plant rate, but it's not as graphic as I would have hoped, it seems to be a very brief scene and no orgasm sounds like in the original @Hitler-It all depends on how it translates, but I gotta say I was very impressed and am now much more confident that it will actually be awesome @mindleviticus- in Evil Dead 1 though? Bruce Campbell (and the rest of the cast) gave some of the most laughably bad performances ever, but that's what added to the charm. It wasn't until 2 and 3 that he started actually adding his own humorous/badass acting style.
Crymsonblaze 10.26.12	The performances are indeed pretty bad in the first one, with the exception of the characters playing the deadites (especially Cheryl and Linda). They are so unnatural and creepy.
Crymsonblaze 10.26.12	Having said that, Campbell still rules in the first one even though he doesn't have much to do. He does a good job at getting you to root for him and that scene at the end where he's trying to use to the locket to grab the Necronomicon is still freakishly tense, even though I've seen the movie many a time.

And Army of Darkness is good, but I kind of wish they went into a different direction...for me some parts are just way too goofy. The first two are better imo @YoYo- I hoped they would use that too, but don't worry some classic lines are still used...don't wanna give away too much though ;)

Aha, oh goodness...well: Alien, Psycho, Repulsion, The Tenant, Onibaba, Kuroneko, The Shining, Re-Animator Dead Alive, The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, Deep Red, Suspiria, Hellraiser, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, The Vanishing, Jacob's Ladder, House of the Devil, Eyes Without a Face, Nosferatu, [rec] and a whole lot others I'm kind of a huge horror buff

DarkSideOfLucca 10.27.12	Cabin in the Woods didn't suck, most people I know love it but I just kind of thought it was okay. It was more of a commentary on horror films than an actual horror film. Recent horror films that don't suck: [rec], House of the Devil, The Descent, Drag Me To Hell (but you know that already), ...I'm having trouble thinking of others, but that's because most horror films I enjoy weren't released very recently :/ it's a shame

Crymsonblaze 01.13.13	Cabin in the Woods was a fantastic deconstruction, but not really a horror film Drag Me to Hell and Insidious are awesome; those are about the only ones I've liked in the past five years or so I've decided this remake is going to suck Still going to see it though, obviously
Crymsonblaze 01.13.13	Even Drag Me to Hell and Insidious are pretty tongue-in-cheek though (particularly the former). I don't like straight horror very much, nor do I think it's as effective as more genre-bending works
Trebor. 01.13.13	Drag Me To Hell was a lot of fun, but it had some pretty awful CG The Evil Dead remake actually seems like it could be good and a nice return to real horror films
Crymsonblaze 01.13.13	Oh yeah the cgi in DMtH is terrible. I think it adds to the Raimi cartoonishness though I'm hoping it's good. I really don't like the grimy look of it so far though. I don't really know what I wanted it to look like, but Saw definitely isn't it
