10.18.12 | I prefer what came out of punk, but I find any straight punk/hardcore genre boring. That whole attitude that lead to more experimental post-punk offshoots like Swans and Einsturzende Neubauten, heavy acts that ignored all of the overblown gimmicks and focus on tight pants, high notes, solos and fantasy lyrics that metal was known for in the late 70s and early 80s.
My favorite metal acts would be influences by what came out of that school too, so I would have to go with punk even though in it's first form it is really boring. |
