DarkSideOfLucca 10.11.12	@johnny, it was tough because I love all of the bands in my description almost equally but the reasons I picked Meshuggah were many and it would take me a while to explain but I'll try and be brief. Their lyrics are so thought provoking they changed me as a writer and to an extent the way I think. I can listen to them no matter what mood I'm in as strange as that may sound, every member is stellar and their discography is so consistently amazing. Their atmosphere they create is often more horrifying than most horror movies I've seen, their sound is so unique (well a lot of bands rip them off now so it's hard to tell but look back in the 90s) they continue to push themselves, I dunno I'm ranting now lol but basically everything I love about music is in meshuggah

Butkuiss 10.11.12	Isis have been my favourite band since I first heard Oceanic at age 14. I still have periods where I'll play, say, Oceanic or Panopticon or Live V every day for weeks at a time. I don't know, their music just connects with me in a way only a few other bands do. Listening right now to Aesop Rock. He's definitely one of the other artists that connect with me as much as Isis, but less consistently.

evilford 10.11.12	can't say I could argue at all with choosing Meshuggah. easily in my top 5 all time. discog is as consistent as anyone will you ever find. awesome band. at the end of the day, I would have to go with Neurosis. their music imo on the whole is groundbreaking and more thought-provoking to me than anyone except maybe Pink Floyd. and on that note, I will say that Pink Floyd is tied; I would be doing my entire life of musical enjoyment an injustice without having them at the top.

Don't think you would be disappointed. If you're only wanting one album for now, the obvious rec around here would be the The Eye of Every Storm.

I could care less what people like and don't like. It's just that when your taste ranges from post rock to metal, you just don't have THAT diverse of taste. I don't consider myself to have the most diverse taste either, but the difference is that I don't go around saying I do.

Sapient. 02.18.13	Deftones has taken the throne from Tool for my all-time favorite, they're just way more consistent, and (imo) have evolved more. Tool is still up there though, and my others would be Meshuggah and Chevelle
