Pavement were an influential 90s indie band, best known for their cult classic debut Slanted and Enchanted,and its successor CrookedRain, Crooked Rain. Gaining a strong underground following shortly after their definitive debut,Pavement continued until 1999, when a hiatus,now regarded as an unofficial breakup, was announced. Frontman Stephen Malkmus continued with a solo career received well by fans andcritics alike. Nevertheless, Pavement's hold on indie music remains indelible, with their catchy, fractured guitar work and pop sensibilities lacedby lo-fi production becoming their renowned trademark.
