Minor Threat formed in 1980 with Ian Mackye, Jeff Nelson, Brian Baker, and Lyle Preslar, from the ashes of former D.C. Punk band Teen Idles, and after a solid amount of gigs they released their first E.P., "Minor Threat",which became a regional success. The follow up "In my Eyes" and shared almost equal success. During this time they began to be coined "Straight Edge" for their song with the same title, and are considered the forerunners of the "Straight Edge" scene. Lyle returned, Brian Baker switched over to second guitar and they recorded the LP "Out of Step". After releasing their final EP "Salad Days" the band called it quits.
