King Giddra

King Giddra were a Japanese hip hop trio that formed in 1993. The group were known for their thoughtful, outspoken views, often tackling social and political issues. The group initially split in 1996, shortly after the release of their groundbreaking album, "Sora Kara no Chikara", but reformed in 2001. The group then signed to Sony, and released their second album, "Saishuu Heiki" in 2002. The album was a tremendous success for the newly reunited group, and peaked at number 3 on the Oricon charts. However, the reunion would be short lived, as the group split once again in 2003. One of the members of the group, Zeebra, continued onward on his solo career, DJ Oasis also embarked on a solo career, only short lived and much less commercially successful, and K Dub Shine enjoys a more indies-based career. The group are considered to be true pioneers in the Japanese hip hop scene for their outspoken views, forever changing the face of Japanese hip hop. « hide
