Inger Lorre was an alternative rock musician that first became known in the early 90s as the frontwoman of the cult band Nymphs. Her erratic and wild performances would make her well known, although the band would end up firing her in 1992 after she refused to show up and open for Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy with the Nymphs in 1992. Her firing combined with a powerful heroin addiction and the passing of her father led to her taking a break from music, although she would return in 1995 as a solo artist, becoming close friends around this time with the late Jeff Buckley until his passing in 1997.Lorre would release her first solo full length album in 1999, “Transcendental Medication”, which would make some waves in the tabloids for the track “She’s Not a Friend”, which was a scathing song about Courtney Love. She would do a bit more studio work after the album but eventually disappeared from the music scene by 2002. In 2012, Lorre returned with her announcing that she would also reunite with Nymphs in 2016 for the first time in over 2 decades, with a new album even supposedly being in the works. In 2020, however, presumably due to the COVID19 outbreak, Nymphs would quietly dissolve again, and this new album would never be released. In 2023, Lorre released her second full length album, “Gloryland”, her first album release in 24 years, with her proclaiming that it was her best work to date. In early 2024, however, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer, which she unfortunately succumbed to in October of 2024. She was only 61 years old. « hide |
