Elastica was a popular alternative rock band from London, England, that formed in 1992. It was formed by former Suede guitaristJustine Frischmannand drummer Justin Welch, with Frischmann also notably being the former longtime girlfriend of Blur frontmanDamon Albarn. The band rose toprominence in the mid-90s as part of the Britpop scene in the UK, and they also slightly brokethe US market, with their 1994 self-titled albumreaching number 64 on the Billboard Hot 200, and eventually was certified gold.After some internal troubles stemming from half of the band leaving in1997, Elastica decided to disband in 2001.
