Eat the Day was formed in 2001 after Wes Borland's departure from Limp Bizkit. In 2003, a series of instrumental demos were recorded, some of which were released publicly for potential new vocalists to audition. However, no vocalist was found and the project was permanently shelved, with one track morphing into a one-off project titled "The Damning Well" before Borland rejoined Limp Bizkit and started Black Light Burns.
