Dream are an electropop idol group from Japan that formed in 2000. Originally consisting of three girls, the group had an
electropop style from the get-go, and drew comparisons to groups like Speed, and, to a certain degree, can be considered
direct descendants of D&D (a group who followed a similar pattern with three girls who split a year before Dream's formation). In

In
2002, the group's members increased to 8, the biggest lineup in the group's history, which continued the group's impressive
reign in sales. A year later, however, the group suddenly plummeted in the Japanese Oricon charts, reaching a low point in 2005
when their album, "Boy Meets Girl", reached a measly ranking on the Oricon charts at number 66. After a lackluster attempt at a
commercial reformation (more specifically name-wise, when the group adopted the alias of DRM), the group sunk even lower into
obscurity, when their self-titled DRM EP in 2007 reached 108 on the Oricon charts. However, after three years of an assumed
hiatus, the group returned in 2010 with their album "Hands Up!", which reached number 36 on the Oricon charts. Not much
sales-wise, but definitely a step-up for the group commercially. Around this time, the group also joined the idol supergroup, E-
Girls, (modeled as the female version of Exile, a hugely successful Japanese R&B group), which is currently enjoying super-
stardom, with their 2013 debut album, "Lesson 1", going gold in sales. « hide |
