Many fanshave notedthat popular alt-rock act Tool seem to havemolded their signature sound from Quicksand's releasesThe band released two widely-acclaimed albums in Slip and Manic Compression before disbanding in 1995.In 1997,Quicksandreunited, and embarked on a successful tour in 1998 with The Deftones. Towards theend of the year they entered thestudio tobegin work on a follow-up to Manic Compression, but tensionswithin the band caused them to split up for good.Quicksand emerged from the ashes of the failed Moondog project and grew into one of the mostunderrated bands of the1990s.From their first show in the condemned tenement, ABC No Rio in New YorkCity, to their break-up on October 12, 1995after ashow at the Hollywood Grand in Los Angeles, Quicksandcreated some of the most progressive music of the decade.
