Arrested Development is an American alternative hip hop group, founded by emcee Speech and DJ Headliner as a positive,Afrocentric alternative to the gangsta rap popular the late 80's. Formed in 1988, they are best remembered for their 1992singles "Tennessee" and "Mr. Wendal", both of which were certified gold in the US, and both also broke top 10 charts in the UK,Canada and Australia. The success of these specific singles drove Arrested Development's debut album, "3 Years, 5 Months & 2Days in the Life Of...", to become a top 10 hit in both the US and the UK. This makes that album Arrested Development's mostsuccessful release to date.
