80s to 90s jazz/funk turned pop band. Starting in the early 80s predominantly jazz/funk (check out their self titled album,'The Early Tapes' - and
live album 'A Physical Presence'). Come 1985 the band decided to take a more commercial routereleasing 'World Machine' (1985) and 'Running
in the Family' (1987). Known for hits such as 'Something About You','Lessons in Love' and 'Running In The Family'.
Fronted by bassist Mark King, known for his legendary slap technique. Recommended listening for bass players 'Mr Pink''88' 'Foundation and
Empire' 'The Chinese Way'. While studio versions of these songs are fairly good, the band excel in alive environment. Live versions of these can
all be found on the excellent 'A Physical Presence' album.
