Fishbone was founded in 1979 in South Central Los Angeles. Gaining notoriety with their live shows and unique blend ofgenres(funk, punk, ska, and metal), Fishbone began to build a following. However, by 1987, the band had began to mix hardcoreand metal aspects into the music, which led to 1988's Truth and Soul. The album was a success, and is still considered tobe a classic. Fishbone's 1991 masterpiece, The Realityof My Surroundings, was an instant success, and considered to bethe band's best. After the band's fourth (and heaviest) album, Give a Monkey a Brain and He'll Swear He's the Center of theUniverse, the band began to fall apart. After losing several members due to different reasons, the band kept it together andrecorded a few more albums, but none saw the success they had in the early '90s. « hide |
